Top o’ Two!
I know they claim it wasn’t a concept album, but it’s like potato chips—can’t listen to just one. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiAqubenILrAhVChXIEHU_cDXEQyCkwAHoECBsQBA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DB0jMPI_pUec&usg=AOvVaw3q61uEY3gIT_11iIwTQ9Nj Lots of good albums listed. |

Pink Floyd:
DSOTM Animals Wembley 74 Pre-FM Boot Roger Waters: Amused To Death David Gilmour: Live at Pompeii (If he would have played Echoes, it would be a masterpiece. But I understand why he didn't.) Iron Maiden: Somewhere In Time A Matter Of Life And Death (massively underrated, imo) Powerslave The Doors: LA Woman (I love getting drunk and lost in that album--love the heavy blues influence and Manzarek at his best) Live at the Bowl 68 (mesmerizing) Fleetwood Mac: Rumours Dire Straights: Brothers In Arms (along with DSOTM, its my go to audiophile test music) Queensryche: Rage For Order (Mindcrime gets all the love but Rage is the true gem) Operation: Mindcrime Guns N Roses: Appetite For Destruction (first track to the last track are all hits and could headline and album) Diana Krall: The Look of Love (at first glance many think it wouldn't fit with my list but she can make love to you through the album. she's incredible.) |

Agreed, I love that albums so much. No, Ayreon isn't a super group it's a Dutch guy that writes it all then has guest vocalists and musicians. james also sings on The Source (which is also an amazing album). Bruce Dickinson sings on one, along with MANY other well known singers (...well...you know, well known if you're into weird metal and a few regular metal bands). All his stuff is concept albums, with most of them telling the same story of a world destroyed by machines and finding a new home, this includes The Human Equation. If you dig it at all, also check out The Source, 01011 (Planet Y in binary, whatever it is), and The Theory of Everything. Again weird stuff, but IMO it has some genius to it. ETA- yeah exactly, who hasn't sang with them Even Hansi from Blind Guardian is on like 3 albums. Ayreon - Sea Of Machines (The Source) 2017 ETA- if the tempo and key change at 4:40 doesn't make you a little excited I think you may need to check for a pulse Something a little darker...interesting melodies here Ayreon - Comatose (01011001) 2008 |

Thanks for the Ayreon rabbit hole to chase down, rolandofgilead. Good stuff.
Some pieces that I listened to many times before moving on. (they're not for everyone but prog guys will likely enjoy them). eta: You'll have to go find the whole album on youtube, I guess. It won't play the entire thing on here and they're all concept works. The Great Rain Beatle Voyager - Ghost Mile (2017) [Full Album] Karnivool - Simple Boy |

Lots of good ones in here that I'd listen to end to end. I'm not a big Eagles fan but for me it's Hotel California. First time I heard it was the complete album on a Dutch radio station. I was in Amsterdam with some Dutch chick I'd just met, partying on a barge her friends lived in on a canal,. We dated for two years and considered marriage but I sure as hell didn't want to stay there & she didn't want to leave. We still communicate occasionally, and I consider her one of my closest friends. I can't possibly hear any song on that album and not remember that night.
