LIBERALS: They are ANTI-Capital punishment and PRO-Abortion. So, they are for protecting the guilty and killing the innocent. Is that it? Did I sum it up in a nutshell? |

Those people aren't LIBERAL they are CONFUSED. I am liberal, and I support capital punishment AND abortion rights and I do so because I don't want to make working people pay for useless mouths. Or have to protect themselves from feral children turned lose on society by people who never intended to raise the babies they created. There is no conincidence that this low point in crimes of violence occured 30 years after legalization of abortion. |

I know a number of people that are anti-death penalty and pro-choice, and the way the logic works in their heads is very simple. They do not consider a zygote/fetus (up to a certain point of development) a person. Therefore, their internal logic is entirely consistent, in that they see themselves as opposed to the killing of "people" and the abortion debate has nothing to do with killing "people" to them. The only thing that's interesting about it is how intelligent, moral and well-educated people can have totally divergent viewpoints on such fundamental issues. Now THAT I find fascinating. The fact that reasonable people can disagree is not inherently interesting to me. |
