I have never had a problem before with popups. I run fully updated Spybot and Adaware every couple days (run last night). I have a popup blocker. I have a hardware firewall. Yesterday, I started getting popups. They start as soon as I boot up. I don't need to have any programs open or running. Every couple of minutes an IE window opens with a popup. About ever 30 minutes a download window opens asking me to download htm.htm. HELP! How do I get rid of these blasted things!!! |

Google toolbar might help. http://toolbar.google.com/ Norton antivirus, Ad-aware, should fix the problem. Then change your IE settings to not run active X controls and stop looking at porn!!! You allowed some shady website to install something on your computer.. Don't install mp3 downloading software.. |

Guys, these are NOT web popups. They are caused by spyware, and the browser he is using has no bearing, as the popups are being brought up by a program running on his PC 1) DISABLE ALL ADD-ON BROWSER TOOLBARS. This includes the 'google bar' and such 2) Run 'msconfig' from the start/run menu, and look for anything that isn't part of windows or your antivirus software in the 'Startup' tab. Disable all of it... 3) Uninstall you popup [s]blocker[/s] attractor. |
