Saw this posted on another forum. Thought it was quite interesting, and showed me the results of a nuclear blast. Sorry if this link has been posted already. www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/ |

I can't find it again, but I like the part where the cops shot about 8-9 looters and looting slowed down somewhat. Man, Ukraine is such a relatively poor country and that looks like a lot of high value land and equipment abandoned to rust. For the soviets to abandon modern equipment like that contamination levels must be extreme. The dosimeter in town with the display around 80-90 millirentgens - in the days afterwards it read hundreds of times higher.... The story of the cheif doctor in the hospital dying several days afterwards, and the staff basically fled the large multistory hospital. I kept thinking of the "dirty bomb" scenario happening in the US while reading this. It would not be too much different here. |

Keep in mind the Soviets by policy hated the Ukrainians, and that's probably why they built such a substandard unit to begin with, even if it was safe or top-of-the line, they still put the potential risk far away from Moscow. |

I dunno about that - the Russians have not been up to western nuclear standards until this boo-boo. What was eerie was looking at pics of a nice city, but abandoned. The Ukranians were doing two hour tours of the area for 210 bucks US, but everyone was leaving after 15 minutes as they found the silence unbearable. |

Quoted: Quoted: Not to be a Nazi, but this is a dupe. Eerie pics though. The other thread got bogged down in nuclear debate... ByteTheBullet (-: Yeah, don't you just hate intelligent conversation ? Cheer up a toilet topic will come along soon. Yikes, I musta hit a nerve there. Oops. ByteTheBullet (-: |

Very interesting! Spooky in a way. Kinda reminds me of the 'Fallout' game. Would in interesting to take a tour of the town, see how everything was left 'as-is' 18 years ago. Just an interesting note on the Soviet govenment-run media, It took a couple of months for people in Odessa (where I'm from) to even learn of this. I was too young to remember, but I recall family recollecting on how nobody knew of it and would simply travel through the zone only to die within a day or two of radiation sickness. |

I'm surprise that I didn't read someone saying "I'd hit her" here on on the other post. Maybe the "Idhither" crew is too afraid of retaining the glow after the glow-in-the-dark condom comes off? What else impressed me is her wealth. I wonder where does it come from. |
