Out of the blue the other day my know-it-all bro-in-law announces he was an Army sniper but there is "no record of it". He WAS in the Army but I seriously doubt he was a sniper 'cause he couldn't keep his trap shut long enough to snipe! I also would imagine that most snipers are introverted and reserved. He is not.
What question or questions can I ask him to confirm this claim?
Thanks

Ask him to define minute of angle, mil-dot ranging, and ballistic coefficient.

Also, ask him what rifle the army trained him on, it's effictive range, the weight and muzzle velocity and caliber of the round it fired, as well as the name of the camoflage suit they wear.

Ask him what kind of rifle his spotter carries.

Ask him whether he needs to hold above, or below the target when he is 800 yards out, and 500 yards lower in elevation than the shooter.

Have him calculate how much.

This should rile him up.

Or ask for a copy of his DD-214 and see if the sniper training shows on it.

How old is he, what unit did he serve with and when? In the early to mid sixties a lot of "snipers" were just good shots pulled out of there 11b slots with no record kept for the 214.

But that's all classifed, you know.
