if i click on a link the browser hangs for like 45 seconds to a minute. if i click open in new window same thing. when i load a new page it is frozen for a similar period. if i click a link in an email i get the same problem. I have run my virus protector and my spyware programs with no success. i have done the windows update thing and again no success. Anyone know what may be causing this problem? OS is win 98se |

Ah-Haaaa! AOL strikes again. My money is on the likely chance that the AOL install didn't change your IE settings to what they should be for AOL Broadband, especially since the AOL browser works. AOL has a history of this kind of crap. Check the network settings of the AOL browser, especially the DNS and default gateway settings, and change IE to match. |
| My IE6 does it from time too time . I have noticed when I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete there's almost always a program not responding. Usually its a Windows update . I just End what ever's not responding and IE loads up fine. BTW I don't have any AOL programs, so for me its not an AOL problem. |

Are you running a firewall program? Does your spyware program block out certain ads or cookies? Norton ISP will block out certain ad companies www's, when that happens my browser hangs up or will not open the page. I can tell right away what is causing it by looking at the status bar at the bottom of the webpage. |

Mine is doing the exact same thing! Brand new Dell Latitude D800, IE 6.0.2800 I was wondering why no one was griping about ARF.com slowness, but it appears to be my computer. My wife's computer on the same network has no problems in this regard. ARF.com loads quickly on her's. |

Quoted: Quoted: www.opera.com is there a way to shrink the area up top where all the buttons are to something a hell of a lot smaller? its taking up like 1/5 of the browser window. other than that i like it. |

Quoted: http://216.239.39.99 Hoplite, Click on that link. If it comes right up, then you need to update your DNS settings for IE. If it comes up just as slowly as anything else under IE, then call AOL tech support and start bitching. Too many http://s in the link. [;)] Jamie |
