First of all, my condolences to Ajacobs. I hope they fine those pieces of shit that did this to you and you get all you guns back.

I didn't want to hijack his thread, so here's my question:
How does the NRA firearm insurance work? I'm already a member, do I have to fill out an application or do I just file a report if (god-forbid) something should happen?

I just want to know in advance if there is anything I need to fill out so I'm prepared since I'm already paying for it.

Thanks in advance!

I started wondering the same thing.
Do you need receipts?  I don't have those.
Would a picture  of the weapon along with Sserial # and a description suffice?

You have to submit a detailed description of what what stolen (ser#'s etc.), any police reports filed and claims to other insurance companies. IIRC, no receipts had to be sent. If you don't pay for any additional coverage, you will only get up to $1000 of what your homeowners or other insurance doesn't cover.

Peace be with you.
