Quoted: Lol Star Wars is a rip off of Seven Samurai. Forbidden Planet established the command crew buddy genre. It also set the bar for special effects. View Quote SW was a "rip off" of The Hidden Fortress. Forbidden Planet was a "rip off" of The Tempest. Every film is a remix... How your list has missed mentioning any Hitchcock film, most notably Vertigo, is disappointing. Having Donnie Brasco on your list is an automatic disqualifier. |

Smoky and the Bandit.
a timestamp of the day...CB radio, big rigs, redneck Sheriffs, Trans Am, the "naughty" good guy winning over the corruption of government, and slapstick comedy! |

You realize that everything in SciFi since is either influenced or stole directly from Star Wars, right? More than 40 years later, people dress up like Jedis because they love this movie so much. Every team in Major League Baseball has a Star Wars night, where people dress up like Jedis and go see a baseball gamePeople don't do that for bad movies. View Quote Charlie Chapman movies are noted not only for the story line, but also by the tremendous attention to detail he put into the scenes along with superb lighting and camera work. The first real epic "Birth of a Nation" was a tour de force in it's day. And with no CGI. The 50's and 60's had their Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments, Spartacus etc. No Gone With The Wind? No Citizen Kane? No Cool Hand Luke? To really appreciate movies like Ben-Hur you have to see it on the big screen. The movie Gettysburg belongs there too. It loses a lot of impact when shown on TV. Quite frankly when you look at over 100 years of film making the list is pretty weak. Like all all time greatest lists it is biased towards whatever the latest generation has seen. Not one mention of any foreign movies either. Very jingoistic. |

Jurassic Park didn’t make the cut?
Nor, Blackhawk Down, Scarface or Goodfellas? I did see Deepthroat on somebody’s list, so I guess there’s some saving grace |

Will need to work up my list. However I feel that I need to point out that "Star Wars" is a series of movies. The equivalent of saying "Twilight", "Indiana Jones" or even "James Bond" as a movie. And I guess to be fair I should at least watch the whole "A Christmas Story" before I jettison it. God is it painful. View Quote |

View Quote It wasn't until Episode 1 came out that it started being referred to as A New Hope. So Star Wars was the movie that changed Sci Fi special effects with the computer controlled cameras. |
