| I'm new to AR15.com, and I am used to handling any buying/selling through Gunbroker.com. If I were to buy something from somebody through the Equipment Exchange and I send money but the seller doesn't send the product, is there any kind of protection or insurance for me? |

Obviously you'd want to purchase from someone that has a higher post count(seniority)...having a known track record on this site means something around here. Our "Authorized Dealers" in the equipment section are highligted in Gold. Also I try to utilize US Postal Service Money Orders whenever possible. |
| The best that you can do is agree to use an escrow company. Do a search, there are a few online escrow co's. They act as a middle man, hold your money until you receive the goods, when you tell them it's o.k., they release the funds to the seller. Likewise, they protect the seller incase you were to try & stiff them on payment. Good for high dollar purchases, there is a few involved, of course. On another note, I've never been stiffed on an EE purchase. |

Start with the feedback forum. Wilson maintains it in the EE section and it's pretty current at all times. Most of the people on here are honest as the list will show you. Gun owners aren't exactly the people that most want to tick off by stiffing them. Another thing you can do is ask them for references on other boards like eBay which have a formal feedback system. FWIW, so far, I've had NO problems. But to directly answer your question... Nope, the site does nothing officially to insure/protect the buyer or seller (or traders). |

There have been very few people ripped off on the EE since I've been around but it does happen. Its usually someone who has done it before. A little research can save you a headache. Check the persons post count AND registration date plus the feedback forum. Dont be afraid to IM a Paying member or two whos been around a while and ask if they know him. I've done deals on there and sent goods/money on pure faith no problem. I wouldnt do that with a guy who has three posts and registered last month. edited to add: No offense meant to you.[;)] |
| What others aren't mentioning is the "Kneecap Crew" who have assisted on the few scammers. They've taken the scammers addresses and sent em to locals in the area who contact the local police, go to the scammer's house and poop in their dog's dishes until the scammer either sends the money back or sends the item. I think that of the known cases, 100% of them have been resolved. But you can lose out, just deal with people with higher post counts...and if you see a preban lower for $200, well...just use common sense. |
