Take a glass of water, and lean over so that you can drink from the opposite side of the glass. Take a few good sips. Stand up straight again.

This really works, I have no idea why:

Get a glass of water and a spoonful or packet of sugar.

Swallow the sugar, and take a drink of water.

Take the glass of water and raise it over your head.

Lower it and take a drink, then raise it over your head.

Repeat until the water's gone.

Suck in as much air as you can into your lungs.

Hold in until you are forced to release.

Breathe in as deep as you possibly can, with the goal of expanding your diaphragm to its maximum. Hold that position with your throat wide open for as long as you can.

If you can do this at the same time the hiccup urge strikes, not only will the diaphragm be unable to contract further, and with the throat/glottis wide open, there won't be the back pressure or vacuum that creates a tug on the diaphragm that happens when you hiccup with your throat closed. That is the unpleasant contraction you feel and it also sets up the next reflex contraction of the diaphragm.

If you can time it right and interrupt the cycle 2-3 times, that usually kills them off for me.

Inhale, taking in as much air as possible. Hold your breath. Continue to inhale as much air as possible until you've reached the point where you can't take in any more. Continue to hold your breath for as long as possible, then exhale.

If at any point during the process you hiccup, exhale and start over. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 attempts, but it has always worked 100% for me ever since I was a kid.

My wife had hiccups about a year and a half ago.

We had come home from a night out, she was a bit tipsy. After a few minutes of listening to her hiccup, I scared her so bad that she peed a bit and started crying. Then she realized I had cured her hiccups.

She hasn't had the hiccups since.

A shot of straight lemon juice.

Swallow air, it creates a burp that seems to fix it.

This stops it almost everytime, except if you hiccup in the middle of it, then you have to start over.

Take a deep breath, count to 10, take a big drink without exhaling (take a big gulp, you want to force it out), then, without exhaling, breathe in as much more as you can, hold for 10 seconds, take another big gulp, then you can exhale for the first time.

If the first time doesn't do it, the second time most likely will.

A large spoon of peanut butter will usually force the diaphragm to relax and stop spasming.

Small sips of water, as many as you can do without breathing. I usually get 20 or so in, it seems to reset the diaphragm to stop the spasms.

They sell a product for kids called Gripe Water at Walmart or target. Its herbal, anise and fennel I believe.
Just for hiccup relief.
We used it for both our daughters.
Works amazingly well.

Take in so much you can barely swallow, then do a dry swallow or gulp.

This is only thing that works for me.

Had the hiccups for 24 hours straight once. I wanted to shoot myself.
When I went to the doctor and he said it was my gallbladder I couldn't wait to get it cut out.

Hiccups are caused by some kind of irritation of the diaphragm. Easing that irritation will help.
There's also a psychological aspect to hiccups. Whenever someone would ask my jr. high school teacher if they could go to the fountain, saying, "I have hiccups," he'd reply "Prove it." Worked every time.

Seriously, you will stop with the hiccups instantly.

This works very well. My daughter hasn’t managed to master this quite yet, so I put a glass of water on the floor and dangle her by her ankles while she drinks it upside down. Works almost every time.

Simple, just use your mind and simple breathing.

Until you can master the concept, find a place to sit down and relax:
1) Close your eyes
2) Clear your mind
3) Take slow, long deep breaths

Hiccups gone in 60 secs or less, rarely it may take me a couple mins

Kinda freaks my kids out when I do this, but they refuse to try and learn it...

If I had the hiccups for two days I'd go to the doctor.

The only thing that works for me is to go somewhere really quiet with no distractions and sit down. I inhale and exhale deeply a few times and then hold the last breath in. I just sit there with my hands in my lap and hold my breath and try to just kind of blank my mind for as long as I can. Sometimes I hiccup and have to start over, but eventually it works. It's the ONLY thing that works for me.

1st & 6th posts pretty much nailed it.
If water isn't an option, find a way to scare the hell out of the hiccup victim, that usually works too.

My dad taught me this trick he learned from his dad.  Find a quiet place and close your eyes.  Imagine you are shrunken down and flying thru your own mouth (I always picture the pod from the movie InnerSpace).  Imagine flying thru your mouth, observing your teeth, your tongue, the roof of your mouth.  Keep going into your throat, and then down thru your esphagus, examining everything calmly as you go down.  Then imagine the opening to the stomach, it opens like a portal and you fly into your stomach.  Imagine everything in there (again, all the scenes in InnerSpace come to my mind).  Finally imagine entering the small intestine.  You can keep going, but by this time, the hiccups are usually gone.  It's weird I know, but it works every time.  I guess it's just a form of meditation that calms the mind and then the body down.

Holding breath for as long as possible. Nose pinched, cheeks puffed out

For some reason, it won't work if cheeks are not puffed out.
