I just noticed that a few minutes ago.  Needless to say, I have not tried it....YET.

I did run a 560 round tin if Silver Bear .223 through both of my AR's with very satisfactory results out to 600 yards.  Not match grade accuracy, 3-4 MOA I guess.  I could hit a bowling pin at 300 yards from a good sitting position with the reflex and irons about half the time, and I know I could have shot USMC Expert with the stuff.  No failures of any kind and I heated both rifles up pretty good, smoking hot in fact.  Great plinking ammo.

If it is available at the gun show this weekend, I will be buying it. I will look for silver bear too. It sounds promising. Thanks for the info.

Check the AK forum, people seem to be having good luck with it as compared to the varnish.  Now if only Barnaul went poly ;)

Well from what I read on the site most of the calibers are going to it.  They also will have wolf in .308

I have not yet tried any of the 5.56 Russian stuff yet, but have shot thousands in 7.62x39. I prefer the Barnaul to the Wolf. Barnaul is loaded much hotter and is more accurate in my all my AKs than Wolf. I've got some Barnaul 5.56mm on order.

Never had any trouble with laquered ammo, and I've probably shot 1000 rds of the stuff thru my AR...

In my experience, Barnaul is slightly corrosive, where wolf is not.  I've let an AK sit for months after hundreds of round of wolf without any corrosion.  I let one stand for a week after Barnaul, and rust appeared on the carrier, in the gas tube, and in the gas cylinder.  Granted, it's not like '50s Bulgarian 54R, which will make rust stalagmites and stalagtites appear in your barrel if left for a week, but it was still a suprise to see.

Have you chrono'd Barnaul to see if it's hotter, or are you judging on recoil (note that I tend to believe you)?
