Here is a link to an extended version of the apache video. It shows what happened before the Iraqis got smoked by the apache. www-scf.usc.edu/~raymondw/Apache%20Mission%20in%20Iraq%2012.1.03.avi |

Someone on another site brought up a good point. There are clearly 2 streams of fire coming from the chopper. The Apache choppers I've seen have a single barreled chain gun mounted below the cockpit. Anybody here have any new information they'd like to share with the class? |
|
I originally read that these guys were hiding shoulder-fired missles. They look to be wrapped up rifles in the extended video based on length and overall bulk. Certainly seems they were up to no good. Who the hell reaches to unwrap their rifle when their buddy just got shredded? Either he's stupid or it really was a missle launcher. Anyone else? |

Quoted: What kind of gun did they use? Oh, 30MM M230. Talk about overkill. From this article: "Army officials acknowledged that the 30 mm cannons used by the Apache gunners were far bigger than what was needed to kill the men, but said it is the smallest weapon the Apaches have." Two things: A) Why does the time jump at xx:22:44 to xx:22:54 (10 seconds cut out) B) What are the first 11 rounds shot at? Where does the hot area appear (long white stick on far left, out of field of view) in field after the first 11 rounds. There is still a guy there, after they track him running back to the right. --Edited to say, what did they shoot with the first 11 rounds (count started at 300, ends at 208 at lower right), then there are THREE guys left, and what appears to be an object in the field where the original clip started (xx:22:56 in upper left timestamp) ???? |

Quoted: The AVI is encoded with the Divx codec link below for download. http://www.divx.com/ For those who STILL don't have a clue what Max_Mike is talking about (like me), do the following: Click this link Download the FREE DivX Pro player (Ad supported). You can run it directly from the web site when it asks you to choose running or downloading, depending on your speed. Once the installation is complete, double-click the original AVI link and presto-chango, you'll have the Anti-Terrorism Tango to enjoy! Hope this helps... |

The first burst was not ranged correctly - I thihnk he says it was on laser range. So he's told to go to auto-range. This is just a guess on my part. The object that appears on the left is a tractor with a guy on it. Apparently it was doing some sort of farm work as there is a swath of earth colored as though it was plowed or cut or whatever that differs in color from the field in front of the tractor. |

Ok, so they were laying the weapons directly in the path of the tractor? (which somehow stopped right in front of them????) |

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO I just went to download the codec and it comes with GAIN software. DO NOT load GAIN. It is the most intrusive software that you could have on your PC. It is full of security holes. DANGEROUS. VERY DANGEROUS. BE CAREFUL. I say this with all sincerity. |
|
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO do I have your attention yet???? I just went to download the codec and noticed the free version comes with GAIN software. STOP! Don't do it. GAIN is the most intrusive software you could ever imagine (do a Goggle search if you don't believe me). This could be the biggest pain in the ass you ever have with your PC. I repeat, do NOT download this!!!!! |
|
My questions on page one are still barely answered (appearance of tractor and 3rd guy, and the "missing ten seconds"). Otherwise, I would like to ask for somebody with a host. I have about 170 weapons camera videos, totalling a bit over 600MB in an archive (and singly). Anybody want to host these? |

You might want to try this http://numea.com/DivXLight-511.exe I don't have this installed on my machine so I cant vouch for it but it is supposed to the video decoder only and nothing else. |

Quoted: Yup, instant barf. Quoted: As the first guy gets nailed look at the guy in the upper right hand of the screen. It looks like he starts throwing up! That first guy really made a splash. I've watched it several times and he goes to his knees barfing almost instantaneously. That means he was already nervous or scared. (up to no good?) Watch the guy on the tractor before the first engagement and he briefly looks in the direction of the Apache. It's like they knew the Apache or "something" was there watching them. After guy #1 was lit up the barfer knew he was fvcked and that was the reason behind the reaction. I think it takes time for body parts to affect a person long before the idea that you're fvcked sets in. The tractor guy starts unwrapping something like his life depended on it, but I still think it was a rifle and not a launcher. |

As to whether the Apache pilots could have called in ground troops to apprehend the men, Cordesman said: "In this kind of war, wherever you find organized resistance among the insurgents, you have to act immediately. If you wait to send in ground troops almost invariably your enemy is going to be gone." I don't know what the reporter Martha Raddatz has on her shoulders, beside 2 tits. They're shooting us and we're shooting at them, it's known as a war, it's just that simple. |
|
If that happened to me while I was selling a rifle out in the boonies, or doing something that looked like an arms trade, I would be seriously pissed off. The pilot had no solid proof that an illegal weapons exchange was going on. In addition, firing on unarmed and wounded civilians is also shamefull for such a powerfull military. And we much such a fuss about Ruby Ridge and Waco? At least we can sue. |

WTF? "Rgr he's wounded...hit him" "Hit the truck and him" Ive always been under the impression that if the enemy soldier is wounded and is offering no further or any resistance that they are to be taken prisoner and such? I have no idea what their ROE are nor the Geneva Convention laws are. But from what I can see on the video they had complete control of the situation and further fire was not needed. Perhaps to destroy the remaining vehicles I understand. Ive never been in the service and never will be (medically). And never been in combat so I cant imagine what goes on in your head. Anyhow just some opinions of mine. Perhaps someone who knows more about ROE for this situation could explain it some. |

Oh suuuure then every time an Apache engaged anybody they would all fall down to the ground, "wounded" [:D]. |
