With many ARFCOM member in high risk jobs, many protecting this great nation so we can have a great site like this. Many out there at night catching the people who make our worst nightmares a trip to Disney land. And even members that are in good standing who have blessed us with their presents could one day leave us. We all have a time. We are all a family here at this site. I surely hope we never have another loss. But I hate to think a member, even if they have posted twice or have 5,000 posts. Shares his/her life, ideas and thoughts just vanishes. I was thinking that a simple tacked thread somewhere on the board with the name and maybe a small amount if information about the member could be posted. If they were in the military where they sevred, or other uniformed person, the job duties. Something like that.  Nothing all fancy or a big production. Just acknowledgment that person{s} were members here. If you would like me to mod it I don't mind doing that either if Ed or whoever thinks this is a good idea. |

I am all for it. Especially for the LEO's and military members. I've often wondered if anyone here would even know if I died. I like this place, its like a second home/family but there is absolutely no connection between this place and where I spend most of my life. Unless I died skydiving and some Fl member saw it in the paper it would go unnoticed. |

I think it's a great idea. The only other slight problem I would forsee is that asshats like Milsurp (just as an example) wouldn't hesitate to make a mockery of this kind of thing. Unfortunately, it is the internet after all, and some people are not beneath screwing with something this serious just for their own sick amusement. |

I like it. I hope the thread stays forever empty, but if a member makes the thread, I pray that they expended hundreds of rounds and compiled a bodycount that could command even the hardest criminal's/enemy soldier's attention before qualifying for the list. As it is written, so it should be done. |

| Having lost FAR too many people in my life already (family, friends, military buds, etc), I say yes. I just found out tonight that someone from my church was hit and killed yesterday around 3pm while riding his bicycle (ex-Navy pilot) by a hit-and-run driver. I didn't know him, but he washed everyones supper dishes every Wednesday night at church. |

Count me as a yes. Whether we like it or not every member of AR15.com is like extended family. We all come here to share a common interest and a common bond. We share the good and the bad and like most families have disagreements. I think one of the greatest down falls of our current society is people just don't seem to care anymore. People have become a disposable item and are forgotten when they die and often while they are still alive. I posted a memorial to my friend Looseline aka Chris Dale because he was my friend, a fellow member of AR15.com, and man who served his community and country as a Soldier and a Police officer. Most of all he was a decent human being and he deserves to be remembered just like everyone else should be. You don't have to be a Police Officer, Fire Fighter or Soldier to be remembered. Everyone should be remembered for who they were and what contribution they made how ever small it maybe. |

Ric, are you talking about law-enforcement, military, firefighters, EMTs, etc., only, or any member of AR15.com? There's a small part of the dead username list that is quite literal. No for a few of reasons. 1) If anyone isnt fully aware everyday we have what we have because of the sacrifices of others, without a shrine to the dead, they dont deserve what they are blessed with. 2) We just had a thread on roadside shrines. People die everyday. If we keep this up we wont be able to take a leak without tripping over one of these shrines. 3) Liberals love to hold hands and do touchy feely stuff. I prefer to be aware but move on with my life. To wallow in death explains why people are constantly screaming for closure and counseling. |

[V] I was posting some feedback last night and saw this, wondered what it was. Out of morbid curiousity, I just went back and looked again. Unnerving to see the suicide rate. What do the other things (RN, etc) stand for? |
