Yes, I understand that he was a bad person, and the people who enabled him to do that, also were bad people.

What seperated Saddam from any of the other 90 - 100 dictators that are doing the same thing around the world?  Are we going to hammer each one individually?  (I am all for that, war time is great for the economy).  I just wonder how it all fits into the militaries role of protecting our country?  Sure we can argue the whole terrorism angle, and I would go for it, but honestly, are we going to open a can of whoop ass on every tin pot dictator who provides funding for terrorists?

The WMD was a ruse, I approve of the ruse, but I am quite uncomfortable with my governemnt getting comfortable using it.

A dichotomy?  I guess.

Well,  now when we tell one of those other dictators to shape up or we are kicking their ass,  they will listen.  They won't think we will pull punches like Clinton did so many times.  Saddam didn't think GW had the balls to invade Iraq,  so he thumbed his nose one last time.  Now he is sitting in a cell with his whole world crumbled around him.  The people of Iraq are free and are going to enjoy democracy for the first time.

The other dictators of this world see that,  believe me.

Something whispers to me that thes epeople (the Iraqi people that is) will experience a lot of things, democracy, as we know it, won't be one of them.

Either way, it is going to be quite a ride, hope they buckle up.

Not at all.  You'll notice that this is a war on terrorism, not a war on mean people who might be seeking WMD, or on mean dictators who aren't nice to their citizens.  Saddam's links to terrorism and his support for it, financial and otherwise, are undeniable.  He was an indirect threat to our nation and was therefore a justified target.

The war was justified by his failing to honor the terms of the previous cease-fire.  End of story.

If it turns out he had done the deeds, but was to proud to admit to disarming, that makes him the dumbest tyrant since Idi Amin Dada.

But the WMD exist, they are in Syria.  You'll see.
Maybe.

I sure hope people do not start calling this a political action.

My grand father and my dad, one in Korea and the other was in Vietnam both were wounded and dad got a Silver star, they get very pissed when someone tells them they were not in a war and that their buddies died in political actions.

I agree 100%, the very least we can do for our vets is at least declare war.

Politicians, being what they are, will happily weasel out of that if we allow them.
