This should happen a lot more if you have $x for a grant and you don't follow through on what the grant was approved any funds that are left should be returned.

Regardless of the outcome, Gavin wil have his panties in a bunch for a while. That's worth something.

Newsom needs to remember, if I give you $5 and send you to the store to buy bread and milk, you better come back with bread and milk and not candy or there is going to be a ass whipping big time, now Newsom needs to be sent out to find his own switch for that ass whipping! View Quote |

Or really even more accurately, I've given you three bucks to buy bread and milk and all you've come back with is candy, I'm not giving you another $2

Great, that’s a good start, but...
I’d like him to start and investigation as to why that project failed and where all the money went. I’d also like to see the people that mismanaged so much money punished. If it’s elected officials, I’d like to see recalls started. |

Follow the money. Get every penny back and lock up those that took place in any fraud.

The dems were planning to use that to buy votes and line their pockets. This is the real reason they are mad. The project was a failure from day 1.

If this is overruled by the court why wouldn't any State in the Union just make up fictitious grant applications for billions of dollars and just use the money for something else?

These people are children
Get a grant for a project Cancel most of the project Not provide tequired financial progress updates Lose the grant because financial updates not provided and most of project cancelled Expecting to keep the money for a project that has been cancelled is being a petulent child |

there needs to be an investigation into where the other 2.5 billion went

there needs to be an investigation into where the other 2.5 billion went View Quote Ronald Batory, chief of the Federal Railroad Administration, the transportation agency that made the grants in 2009 and 2010, laid out a lengthy legal argument Tuesday for why the state was out of compliance with the grant agreement. Batory said in a three-page letter to California High-Speed Rail Authority Chief Executive Brian Kelly that the state “has materially failed to comply with the terms of the agreement and has failed to make reasonable progress on the project.” Batory alleged that the state had failed to spend required matching funds, falling short by $100 million as of December. He argued that it will fail to complete the Central Valley construction by a 2022 deadline required by the grant. Batory also said the state has not submitted required financial information — such as reports on what has been delivered to date — that would allow federal regulators to oversee the grants. It also has failed to take corrective actions after regulators raised concerns in 2017 and 2018. The letter also cited Newsom’s State of the State speech last week that outlined a plan to build a limited operating segment between Merced and Bakersfield as a “significant retreat from the state’s initial vision and commitment.” The rail authority said Tuesday afternoon that it would respond in detail to those allegations in coming days. |

Anything that helps destroy California is good for America. It is a cancer.

Haha. Serves CA right for electing communists to run the state.

Thankfully Rick Scott didn't take the money for that farce of a train or we'd be talking about FL right now. Trains are dead. They suck at moving people to where they want to go and they suck at moving most freight to where it needs to go. The dedicated expensive infrastructure and its impact is an abomination on cities and towns. The only thing they excel at are moving heavy bulk.

Newsom better STFU or the the 3 billion the tax-payer already fronted could be raked back as what Newsom did was breaking breaking a "contract" between CA and the Feds. From what i understand the money fronted did not go where it was supposed to.

HA HA! I'd be happy with it going towards the wall that is built IN CA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many Grant's have stipulations placed upon them, and its possible for the feds to pull the money of California fails to fulfill the requirements. It looks like Newsom is trying to claim they are fulfilling enough of her requirements to get the money. This will end up in the courts. It is extremely unlikely that Trump could recoup the money spent. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Can he seriously do this? I thought the grant wa's about $3.5 billion. This will end up in the courts. It is extremely unlikely that Trump could recoup the money spent. |

The $$$ is for a canceled High speed rail system. I guess CA already spend the $$$ on some social welfare for the illegals and does not have the $$$ to give back
