Is there a breed of dog with an all white body and a totally black head? A dog fitting that description came towards my son and I aggressively today while on a walk through our neighborhood. It never barked, but it circled us and charged us a few times as we moved slowly towards our house. The dog was very large. He seemed more interested in my 3 year old. He might have been playing, but I couldn't tell and didn't want to find out since I had no protection with me. Beautiful animal though, glad I didn't have to break its neck with my bare hands

Wolfpack, Beautiful dog you have. Our 10 year old Akita "flipped" its stomach last year and didn't make it through surgery. Great dogs and would love to get another but my wife keeps picking up strays from the ghetto. Have 5 mutts now (and 4 cats) eating up my ammo budget. I've seen what you are doing with the Great Dane rescue. Glad to see other dog lovers out there. Keep up the good work. You'll be rewarded. Dave, Sorry for the hijack. Be wary, Akitas can be mad mofo's. |

That's not a pic of my dog, I'll post some later...here IS a pic of my dogs half brother (same father) his Name is Reagan (yep, after Ronnie), my Akita is named Rush, (after the band not the radio guy). My dogs brother here is a small one he weighs about 75-80 pounds his big brother weighs in at right under 120 but both have the exact same markings, 'cept Rush has a red coat not gray. Blue's Clues (or the teen girl inside) regretted going up to Reagan TO SAY HI.... |

Quoted: Another of the macho breeds, used in Japan for protection, misbread by some in the US for aggressiveness. Wrong. Akita's were bred to hunt Yezo Bear in Japan, not protection. That's why they bred to get a large dog that doesn't bark. Akita's are actually pretty rare in the U.S. I don't see them around hardly anywhere, most people think Akita's are Chow's. Anyways about the Pit Bull thread, I would rather take an attack from my Akita than from a 30 pound Pit....anyday. I could kill my Akita with no weapons, I doubt I could kill a Pit with my bare hands. |
