Have to admit, DiCaprio's performance was pretty convincing.

There's an updated version of that movie coming out soon that involves a gay marriage twist...

I think it's titled.......

Seconding Penn in I am Sam.  He is absolutely brilliant.  Gotta love him in The Thin Red Line, probably the best war movie ever.  And he is awesome in Mystic River, currently playing go check it out.

Dustin Hoffman in "Rainman".  There's a reason he won an Oscar for that performance.

John Malkovich in "Of Mice and Men"

Tom Hanks in "Forrest Gump"

Billy Bob Thornton in "Slingblade"

Dicaprio in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape"

In that order...

I thought Sean Penn playing himself in "I Am Sam" was convincing. Laugh at him for 5-10 minutes and then immediately press stop or change the channel.

Not really a retard but Harrison Ford in "Regarding Henry" was an excellent performance.

Yeah, that was the first movie I ever saw DiCaprio in.  I kept wondering how they got a retard to remember lines and act on cue.

Ummm...he wasn't acting. He really is retarded, AKA Down's syndrome or Mongoloid.

"Mongoloid he was a mongoloid
Happy as you and me
Mongoloid he was a mongoloid
One chromosome too many...."
--DEVO, "Mongoloid"

What was amazing was that he was able to perform in a TV series- a bit like a dog dancing on his hind legs- it's not how well the dog performs that is astonishing, rather that the deed is performed at all.
