I was pretty sure I remembered it right...

The flag was dangling from a pole at my uncle's house in tatters from being out in the weather, so I took her down... tore all the stripes off... cut out all the stars... and will burn it tomorrow.


That is the correct procedure, right?

Everyone who saw what I was doing just asked why I was going through all the trouble... "just throw it away".  Not their fault they are ignorant to tradition.


Edit:  I just looked it up.  The stars don't have to be individually cut out... the field of blue is removed and burned first.  Then the stripes are individually laid on the fire.
