22 after 300 yards gets real tricky. Try figuring out the come ups for 1000 yards assuming the bullet is still stable.

I'm a solid shot. When I hear people claim to do stuff like that I either ask to go with them and have them teach me, or show me in real life and pick your prize.
I met one person who could hit what he was aiming at with regularity at 1k. His glass was worth more than my car. Hell his rest probably was. he let me set one round off and on his instruction a few seconds later (flight time comes into play) I was on paper. I thanked him and then was never impressed with hitting a soda can at 100 ever again :( |

Tell this guy I will give him $1000 for every 5 shot group he shoots under 2.5 inches at 1000 yards.
He will give me $1000 for every group larger than 2.5 inches. I'll stand by without much expectation of a need to haul money to the range. |

.22lr , 40gr, at 1250fps, BC of .109 ( Aguila numbers ) Plugged into JBM with a 100yd zero. It becomes subsonic close to 100 yards. At 1000 yard, there is 326ft of drop. That's 109 yards give or take. Wind drift with a 10mph full value ( 90 degrees left or right ) wind, is 124ft. |

I'm sorry, an anchutz in a ransom rest, indoors in perfect conditions, won't shoot a dime at 1k meters.
The round will travel that far, sure. But it won't be within a dime. Even if all variables besides inherent precision of the gun are removed and the best gun in the world is used, not possible IMHO. |

I knew a guy who claimed to shoot prairie dogs at 1000 yards with an '03 Springfield.
Yes, with IRON SIGHTS. When confronted with fact that the human eye cannot SEE a stationary prairie dog at 1000 yards, he responded that he waited for them to run before shooting. He was a piece of work |

This reminds me of an old co-worker I had who was claiming that he was an Army Ranger, and a sniper, with 170 some odd confirmed kills. Supposedly his spotter was shot and killed and he carried him on his back some 20 miles back to base. At first I really questioned it but then decided I had no reason not to believe him. I didn't really look into confirm kill records until later on. He certainly had the hard core veteran act. Whatever that was... Then he told me he kept his 300 Win Mag Rifle and some other gun after getting out. That's where he went wrong. I know that isn't possible. This is supposedly a Afghanistan Vet. Then he started handing out patches to everyone at work. He was telling me that he had tons of patches left over after he got out and wanted to give them all away.. I recognized the prints of these patches and knew they looked super fishy. At this point I knew for a fact he was lying. I couldn't stand his act anymore. To drink from a water bottle he would stand at attention. It was hilarious. I got so sick of his lies that I started asking him questions that he would give bull crap answers to and me and the other guys would go have a good laugh about his stupidity afterward. The funniest thing he did was show me his "retirement knife". I asked him about it and he was super reluctant to show me. I think the smirk on my face was to much. I said "nah man, I haven't seen your knife yet, I wanna see a real genuine special forces knife!" He pulls it out of his air soft ACU mag pouch and says he got a box of them when he left the Army. It was a desert digi camo Tac Force knife with a special forces piece glued into it. I turned around and looked it up and found it on Amazon for $7.99. Freakin idiot. I love guys like that. So damn stupid they can't even realistically lie. He would tell people he didn't like to talk about what happened over there, and then literally tell everyone everything that "happened" over there. He got fired very quickly.

Everyone shoots their .22 1000 yards. This thing called gravity usually screws up our shots but hey, can't argue with physics right. Since I'm not that smart I won't get all science technical or anything on how to setup that shot but yeah, I shoot my .22 1000 yards just like the rest of you.
 To make myself look good I usually cheat and find a place where something called a paper target 100 yards or less gets in the way first. I just usually leave that detail out when I tell my 1000 yards story showing off those paper targets. Ok, I can't bear the shame any longer. I'll confess, I didn't even leave the house. Grabbed a dime and traced it on to a paper target then walked into the kitchen for the ice pick. Just don't tell anyone ok. Thanks.

 That is a 1,000 Yards The 2016 Cabela's Mid Atlantic Long Range Regional. At 1K : 1 MOA is basically 10.47 inches , 1/2 MOA would be 5.235 inches , 1/4 MOA would be 2.62 inches. Lets not even take wind in to account. Plenty of Precision Shooters on this Site.

This fits in line with a guy at work that tried to sell me his Bubba'd xd. Said he could hit dimes or pennies at 25yds with it. I can't even see a dime at that distance let alone hit it with a front sight that is 10x as wide as the coin at that distance.

I work with a HILLBILLY, i mean HILLBILLY, that says he has a F1 Firearms AR15 that he shoots three gun matches with, well over 100,000 rounds and hes NEVER ever cleaned it or lubed it and it still shoots dimes at 200 yrds and has never malfunctioned. I said i think you are full of shit. He said "Nooo" very sheepishly and walked away. Next day he showed me a picture of "his" rifle on his cell phone, it was the F1 website and it was a thumbnail pic....
P.S. i got nothing against hillbillies at all, for being a "city boy" im kind of a hillbilly myself. |

I use a special Teflon and moly coating on my hand loaded .22 sniper rounds.
It makes them go faster and farther. It also makes them real quite. That’s part of seal survival training. |

This post makes me want to set up a 12'x12' target at 1000 yards and then mount a .22 rifle onto a base-plate and mortar bipod and adjust fire until I find the correct elevation to get that sweet 326 feet of holdover. I suspect the bullet would be so unstable it might not hold within a 12' cone of fire if you could work up the elevation data.
