I got my CMP 1911A1 (RR slide and frame) in round 1, so not eligible for another. I understand why, but if I could I'd apply for another one.

I'm just seeing this for the first time (the round 2 info)....thanks GD.
Surprised to see a "round 2" but I'm filling out the packet as we speak. Glad to have some sort of chance since I was slapping myself for not submitting papers for the first go-around. |

Got my call Thursday. Nice lady said that although they're still making calls at some point soon they'll pause shipping so that guns aren't sitting at FFLs over Christmas. Indicated mine might be affected.
Sounds like some Army chickenshit there. Whatever. Two plus years, I can wait another few weeks. |

Transfers come from the Department of the Army and they put a bunch of contingencies on CMP because these are pistols that might get stolen and used in drive-by gang shootings, or something. Like making us transfer through a second FFL and making the CMP build a separate secure vault just for the 1911s. Just speculating, but "we don't want the pistols sitting at FFLs over a holiday" smells like DA influence over the process. I don't blame CMP at all, they're doing what they need to do, but the politics around this program is silly. |

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Transfers come from the FIFY, otherwise correct and to add, most Fedgov shuts down / goes to half work days between Thanksgiving & New Years. Digging I found this on CMP's web page: First Reason: The first NICS conducted by the FBI for the CMP 1911 makes sure the customer can legally possess the 1911 type pistol prior to shipping it to the local 01, or 02, or 07 FFL dealer. The CMP, Congress, and the United States Army do not want the 1911 to have to be returned to CMP 1911 if the purchaser is not legal to possess. The more time the pistol is in transit, the more likely it is that it could be lost or stolen. The second NICS check is performed by the FBI for the local 01, or 02, or 07 FFL in accordance with their standard transfer procedures and all federal, state, and local laws. Bet that's the applicable thinking here. Anyway, hopefully I get in under the wire. |

View Quote The main problem with blaming the DoA is CMP kept blaming the law over how they did things. When you bother to read the black letter law concerning this, there is NOT ONE DIFFERENCE between a Garand that they will just ship to you with barely a nod at background checks shipped to your door; and the 1911's where they check three times before shipping to your FFL who will check again. The story keeps shifting. It didn't stop me from putting my name in the hat and getting my M1911A1, but they didn't shower themselves in glory justifying their procedures. |

It looks like they are up to 18363 as of today. They are saying that December 17 is the last day they will ship out before the holidays. It says they will resume shipping on January 4, 2021. I doubt they will get to me before then. Oh, well.

I realize the next round is already going forward, but I wonder if a Harris Administration will let any other rounds happen. Especially if all three branches are demoncraps. I am glad I got one already!

Looks like I will be getting my 1911 Christmas present after the first of the year, after waiting over two years, two weeks will be a piece of cake.
ETA: Per 1911 Admin- We will not ship anything pistols after 17 Dec. 2020 and will start shipping again on 4 Jan. 2021. But we will be processing orders and credit cards will be run but pistols won't be shipped until the 4th |

Someone with 18601 got the call today as well from what I saw on the CMP forum.

I think next week I'm going to start starring at the phone to wait for that 256 area code call.

I am glad I got mine during the first allotment. I figure that the CMP can fill all of the 2nd allotment orders, but with a Biden win, I wonder how long it will last. Btw...I really do appreciate the extras that the CMP gives/sells with the pistol. The case is wonderful and it could have just been a cardboard box. The copy of the maintenance manual was also a nice treat that was not expected. It is like they really took the significance of the pistols to heart and offered the nice case and the historical book to show they understood the collectibility of these. |

I'm only up to pg 15 in the reading of the thread.
How many RNG's in the first round? |
|
|
|
I just got an e-mail from CMP and called them back at the number provided. All 3 grades were available. I ordered Service grade. I was told that I would receive an e-mail when it ships. RNG 18762.
