Many of people have been killed by a strike to face, a fall or a rock to the head. Many times people say, I should not have hesitated. The most important thing you can do if you carried concealed is to excercise good judgemen, and multiple attackers assaulting you or your wife, you need to respond in a manner that gives you the best advantage.
