I moved away from GA in 2004, but I remember lots of winter stuff.

Multiple ice storms that brought down nearly every pine tree in the state.
6"+ of snow.

You guys have gotten soft.

So you’re the one that brought this shit.....Don’t think Lanier will produce “lake effect snow” like lake Michigan does.

Global warming is melting the ice caps which is releasing all the coldness they hold, or something.

Something is definitely wrong with the atmosphere because it's 20 degrees here in Houston and it's never been this cold IIRC.

It's that ice age they kept hyping in the 70's/80's......about 20 years late.

The earth goes through cycles.  I lived through a couple of ice storms while living in Alabama as a kid.  I still remember the one in 1993, because we didn't have power for almost a month.   We were rural, and bottom of the totem pole for getting the lines fixed.

It's because the Democrats were artificially inflating the temperatures from secret government lab at Area 51 using a stolen Halliburton weather machine. All in a ruse to bilk Americans of billions of dollars and gain more government control over their daily lives. Trump got elected and pull the plug on that shit. Now shovel that coal, throw some polar bear steaks on the grill, crank up the heat and MAGA.

If we get that ice storm they are predicting here in FL, I'm staying firmly planted on the couch and will watch the disaster unfold on the traffic cams.

OP is just young. Keep living and you will see it this cold in GA again.
I've seen two feet of snow south of Macon. Ice storms in the 60's that had us out of power for a week.
Seen the high go all the way to 8 back in the 80's.
We needed some of this to get the bugs back under control.

Relax, we will be bitching about the heat soon enough.

I don’t get it. Last year at this time I was in shorts. I remember making a remark about how nice it was. Lows in the mid 30s, highs in the mid 50s. It was a winter, sure, but it was tolerable.

This year, it has been cold as fuck almost every day since thanksgiving. It snowed on December 10th. I’m 29, I’ve never seen it snow in December in my whole life.

It’s 17 degrees outside right now, and going to get down to 12. On Thursday and Friday it won’t even get above freezing the whole day. I hate this shit.

What the FUCK global warming? Where you at?

Well young one, it's called winter and sometimes winter gets really cold. Even down south.

Going down to 12 or 17 is cold for Georgia, but trust me, it can get worse.  I can recall it getting down to 5 degrees, maybe a little colder in Valdosta, GA back in 1978.  I'm sure the northern part of Georgia was even colder that day, probably down below zero.

Old timers I knew down in the Valdosta area talked about how their grandparents talked about regularly using horse drawn sleighs to get around during winters when those grandparents were children and young adults.  So figure that back in the 1869 and 1870s south Georgia would regularly see snow a foot or more deep that would stay around long enough to make it worth people's trouble to buy a sleigh.

So be glad you're not in your great, great, great grandparents generation, having to deal with this cold with mid 19th century technology clothing, transportation, housing and heating systems.

It's basically only cold in North America right now, the rest of the world is above average.

Weather is funny stuff.

I guess that's why we're about to get an unusual storm too.
