The gf is watching a special on Destination America called Helltown. About an abandoned town that was formerly Boston Ohio. Anyone else watching this shit? Anyone live in that area?

The entire state is a shithole, so it's not really limited to just one town...

Right now I reside in the Miami valley, but have had the displeasure of living in Columbus, Cleveland, west Chester, and Newark.

Watching it now. Been to Cuyahoga Valley to go hiking a couple of times, been curious about the history of it. This show is getting tedious though.

@Waldo probably lives in my town as I'm about 10 minutes from the National Park.

Pretty sure I've hiked thru the area a few times.

It's bullshit.  No more weird, dangerous, or otherworldly odd than anywhere else.

Taken via eminent domain for the CVNP.

Many of the houses were burnt down either for fun or training, some bulldozed.

Not that spooky, pretty much a place for teenagers to go "exploring" and post pics to instagram.

The national park service bought up the area and let it return to nature, they also closed the road down.

It's stupid shit for kids to scare another and give a headache to the local police to catch trespassers.

There was also an old salvage yard and dump that was a superfund site that had to be cleaned up too.

Now, there are some creepy spots in the park where you feel like you are being watched, one spot is off the old wagon trail as there is an old Indian fort and mounds in that area and a few other spot that there are mounds that the park service don't like talking about

I hike in that area frequently; wanted to hike at Brandywine Falls yesterday but the trail was closed so went to the Ledges instead.  Wikipedia says all the buildings were razed but there is at least one abandoned home still standing near the Everett Covered Bridge.

Just because you choose to live in crap holes doesn't mean that the whole state is a suppository resting place. The section I live in is flat and boring but far from a crap hole. Maybe you should move to one of the communist states.

I spent two summers in the mid 80s working in Newark, Ohio,or as the natives say it, Nerk, Ahia.

I agree, it is not the best example of what Ohio has to offer.

Toledo has some satanist's that are still active

In this image they endowed the street pole with the devils spirit using a concoction of meth and malt liquor. They are celebrating it's birthday.  You can tell it's an important event because some put on their Hood Tuxedos.

It used to be a thing to go there when I was in high school in the mid 90's. Lots of urban legends about a satanic church, a hearse that would chase you around, shit like that. It was a really spooky place and lots of fun to explore as a kid. There was quite a bit of weird satanic shit around, probably from kids (candles, graffiti, dead animals, ritual looking stuff etc).

I guess the history of it is the .gov bought up all the land in the 60's or 70's due to some kind of chemical spill or something and then boarded up or razed all the houses, so it had a kind of Fallout ghost town vibe. You rarely ever saw any other people or cars there.

No chemical spill, just bought up as part of a new park.

Kind of like PA? it is what people do, name places after ones they left, or know.
