The gf is watching a special on Destination America called Helltown. About an abandoned town that was formerly Boston Ohio. Anyone else watching this shit? Anyone live in that area?

I don't live very far from there, about 15 minutes. It's just bullshit.

The entire state is a shithole, so it's not really limited to just one town...

Watching it now. Been to Cuyahoga Valley to go hiking a couple of times, been curious about the history of it. This show is getting tedious though.

Any truth to the story of teen agers live streaming last year, and one of them getting killed?

There was also an old salvage yard and dump that was a superfund site that had to be cleaned up too. Now, there are some creepy spots in the park where you feel like you are being watched, one spot is off the old wagon trail as there is an old Indian fort and mounds in that area and a few other spot that there are mounds that the park service don't like talking about |

Total bullshit. The only thing you have to watch out for in the CVNP is having some goblin come down and break into your car.

I hike in that area frequently; wanted to hike at Brandywine Falls yesterday but the trail was closed so went to the Ledges instead. Wikipedia says all the buildings were razed but there is at least one abandoned home still standing near the Everett Covered Bridge.

Saw the commercials. Read up as to what the story actually is.
Just typical made up internet bullshit. |

Just because you choose to live in crap holes doesn't mean that the whole state is a suppository resting place. The section I live in is flat and boring but far from a crap hole. Maybe you should move to one of the communist states. View Quote |

It used to be a thing to go there when I was in high school in the mid 90's. Lots of urban legends about a satanic church, a hearse that would chase you around, shit like that. It was a really spooky place and lots of fun to explore as a kid. There was quite a bit of weird satanic shit around, probably from kids (candles, graffiti, dead animals, ritual looking stuff etc).
I guess the history of it is the .gov bought up all the land in the 60's or 70's due to some kind of chemical spill or something and then boarded up or razed all the houses, so it had a kind of Fallout ghost town vibe. You rarely ever saw any other people or cars there. |
|
No chemical spill, just bought up as part of a new park.
