Try Old Medley if you can find it. Wathens is bottled between 4 and 8yrs, Old Medley is the same - just aged to 12. I think it has been discontinued now, but it is still pretty easy to find around here. That said, I am a fan of Elijah Craig... Whistle Pig/Boss Hog is actually pretty good for the price, Some of the Jefferson Reserves are good (but will push the 100 limit pretty hard) - I just drank the Jeff Res Ocean II and enjoyed it. Came to post Blanton's...definitely a cut above most IMO. George Dickel Select, Micther's and any of the Evan Williams are good, too. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

So it looks like Blanton's is made by the Buffalo Trace distillery. Are they similar whiskeys, Blanton and Buffalo Trace? Can anyone describe the difference? View Quote Well worth the extra few dollars. It is also made by Buffalo Trace. Blantons is far better than the 2 others. |

I'd take 3 bottles of WL Weller Special Reserve over most of the recommendations in this thread. Attached File |

Old Rip Van Winkle 10. I had my name pulled in the lottery. So I can buy one bottle for $60. I don't know if other states have the Bottle Lottery or not. |

I bought 3 to try based on your recommendations.
Unfortunately Blanton's is nowhere to be found round these parts. Apparently the majority goes to restaurants in Austin.
I sampled the Buffalo Trace last night and was pleased. Very smooth. Ideal for someone coming from Scotch like me. Unfortunately I am not learned enough to say that it hinted of chocolate, coffee and macadamia nuts with a smooth oakey finish . Tonight I will be trying the Knob Creek. I expect it to have more of a bite given its 120 proof. I'll report back. Keep the recommendations coming if you have them. By the way, I am a big cigar fan so appreciate the photos with cigars. |

I'm enjoying the Makers Mark cask strength that I bought yesterday, first time trying it.

Not sure how easy to find outside of the Detroit metro area yet, but if you can find Two James Grass Widow, grab it. About 60 a bottle and is my current fav and I've drank just about everything out there over the years.

I'm really liking Old Scout single barrel. Aged 11 years.
I've always like buffalo trace, bulliet, woodford reserve, basil hayden. eta: that might not technically be bourbon, but it's good |

I know there are a lot of Bourbon aficionados on this site. I am looking for the best sipping whiskey under $100 that I am likely to find at my local big chain liquor store or can buy readily online. What say ye? View Quote Woodford Reserve. |

Old Crow, Old Granddad. Pretty much anything with Old in the title.
