I have guns to protect my family.. No point in having them just to protect myself unless I'm a selfish bastard.

No point in protecting nothing, and a family can not be replaced as easily as a gun substitute can.

In what way? I wouldn't just trade my family for my firearms, but I would fight to my utmost capability to keep my firearms as a way to protect my family.
Please clarify your question, & then I will take the pole.

Yep.  My guns are the reason I'm still free.  The Barbara Striesands and the rest of the Hollywierd wierdos want to enslave me.  I won't allow that.  My guns will never be taken away at least while I'm still alive.  Will I fight, hell yes.  Would I shoot Barbara, yep, in a second.  Would I leave her alone, yep.  If she leaves me alone...

Marine Corps Rifleman's Creed:  (excerpt from Warrior Culture of the U.S. Marines, copyright 2001 Marion F. Sturkey)

In boot camp at Parris Island or San Diego, and in the Basic School at Quantico, no one escapes from the Rifleman's Creed.  Every Marine is trained, first and foremost, as a rifleman, for it is the rifleman who must close with and destroy the enemy.  The rifleman remains the most basic tenet of Marine Corps doctrine.  All else revolves around him.  Marine Aviation, Marine Armor, Marine Artillery, and all supporting arms and warfighting assets exit to support the rifleman.  It is believed that MGen. William H. Rupertus, USMC, authored the creed shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.  It is commonly known as the Rifleman's Creed, but it has also been called "My Rifle: The Creed of a United States Marine."  Every Marine must memorize this creed.  And, every Marine must live by the creed.

This is my rifle.  There are many like it, but this one is mine.  It is my life.  I must master it as I must master my life.  Without me my rifle is useless.  Without my rifle, I am useless.        I must fire my rifle true.  I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me.  I must shoot him before he shoots me.  I will.  My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make.  We know that it is the hits that count.  We will hit.

My rifle is human, even as I am human, because it is my life.  Thus, I will learn it as a brother.  I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel.  I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready.  We will become part of each other.

Before God I swear this creed.  My rifle and I are the defenders of my country.  We are the masters of our enemy.  We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but Peace!

By extrapolation, my family by blood, or by shared hardship and sacrafice, will not be exchanged for ANY material possession.

Yes, that was Imbroglioglio.

He had an avatar for quite the while, so I believe he was a Team Member. His post count was actually quite a bit higher. He was around and posting before the current board configuration. That, and you would have to count the posts under, what, a dozen different aliases?

Damn, I thought he was back and was trying to get rid of that 10/22 or the .38 special. And I had the perfect family member to offer in exchange....

BTW, I knew he hadn't come back. First thing I did was check to see if this was his magical 10,000th post.
It wasn't...

If you are going to bring back some old ass posts, why not bring back the original 9/11/01 post from LT?   Many have asked for it if only in the club house!

Imbroglio you need to stay in Preban where you are appreciated, and I acknowledge those that post by keeping my weapons and useing them will keep my family safe!

wouldn't sacrificing your guns be just like sacrificing your family?  except someone else would be killing them....

would i give up the guns i presently own in exchange for my family?  probably.

would i give up the right to own guns in exchange for my family?  who'd be taking them away from me if i said "no"?  you?  hmmn.  i'll need to think about that one for a little while longer.  would you mind just standing in one place until i have your answer?  thanks (that way i don't have to lead you any).  bang!  and my family is still safe.  because i chose to keep my guns AND the right to own them.

TJ You are absolutely right!

What in the Hell kinda question is that

This was posted Aug 23 2003 why was it pumped to the top and by whom?

It's still as lame now as then, since IMBROG has no family or anyone to care about,my guess is that he wouldn't even die to protect his own life!

If the Neo-cons,coalition,natzis,or new world order comes to my door and wants to take my liberty(life) I will gladly give it to them!

The cost will be high and the intrest will be 20 to one or more!

So why dredge this shit up again?

Actually, I can see why he posted it.  I suspect those are exactly the terms the antis of both parties will use.  Oh sure, the phrasing will be more sugar coated, but it will be the same.  In another thread on a similar subject, a poster  suggested it will be very likely for somone's own wife to turn him in.  If SHE feels HER children and HER "nest" are threatened (by some government action), you're history.  Paraphrasing, but I believe I have the thrust right.

Guns don't run up $20,000 on credit cards.

Right now I would trade my wife for a Taurus .38 Special and a Ruger 10-22
