About to pull the trigger on one that has 23k miles on it and in excellent shape. Price is the same as a new, fairly bone stock 4x4 model and I really like the features the Z71 has. It's also the Rally 2 edition.
So anyone have any negative feedback on them? |

Higher miles for a < 2 year old truck. When you say "same price"... how much? Same price as in after my trade in on either, both would be within a grand or so of each other with a 1% higher rate on the 16. |

I've owed 3 Chevy Z71s. A 92, 99 and 08 models. Purchased all of them new and drove until 120-140k miles on all of them and never had any major problems. Very happy with all of them. Currently drive a 2500HD 4x4 and like it too although it's not a Z71. |

i have a 2016 1500 silverado LT
i love it my old man has a custom sport 2015 2500 silverado diesel. looks like a z71. his only complaint is the painted bumpers chip from grit and small rocks when he drove from NV to CT. he is going to get a "bra" for it that is clear made by 3M to help protect it. other than that, he loves his and i love mine. awesome trucks. check the gearing, you want 3.42's nothing less. what motor? |

| I've got a 15 Z71, 36k miles. It's ok, wish I kept my 2004. The transmission doesn't shift all that well. My compressor locked up and had to be replaced at 20k, still isn't right, whines a lot. Electronics are laggy and quirky sometimes, first world problems. The main issue is the transmission, it just doesn't operate smoothly, especially when you accelerate, it takes forever to hunt for gears. |

It's also the Rally 2 edition. So anyone have any negative feedback on them? Demand to drive it at 74 to 82 MPH, and make sure it doesn't have the typical GM truck shakes. I test drove a similar 2015 model with just a few more miles, told the salesman kid who told me I couldn't - "tough shit, I am not buying it if I am not allowed to drive it at speed." It vibrated, I didn't buy it. |

The black wax stuff on the frame that falls off and leaves bare metal which rusts is made by Daubert Chemical and is not bad, but must be reapplied. TAKE NOTE -- FLUID FILM WILL MELT THE STUFF ON THE FRAME RAILS! I used a product called Max Wax instead, but if you want to use the genuine GM black wax stuff it's here
Sometimes ordering the black wax stuff from GM directly is cheaper than Daubert. |

Just rolled over 30K on mine. It's still like new.
Attached File The 5.3 is a great engine, I've had 3 trucks with it, but honestly wish I had gotten the 6.2. I will on my next one. The rear end/trans has a clunk. Always. All 3 of my last trucks did so I just deal with it. No issues in this 2016 it's solid. My 2014 was too. My 2010 only had the trans blow at 155K but that truck got the shit worked out of it. |

Why buy used? Do both trucks have the same equipment? The only way I'd buy used is if I was getting way more in options by buying used. Quoted:

A near base new 4x4 will have a rear locker only if it left the factory with the tow package. Rear gears on the v8 1500's were either 3.08 or 3.42. 3.23 is stock on the v6 only. |

I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 with tow package 5.3L V8. It was the first year with the new body style. I've got 195,000 miles on her with no maintenance besides oil and tires.
This truck is still in great condition, interior, leather, etc, Im considering rebuilding the engine/trans if/when shtf |

I'll be the asshole. Is it a fucking bro truck with black rims and racing stripes on it? I see dudes rolling around with flat brims and the seat leaned back every time in those chevy trucks. And no I'm not a hater of a nice trucks, my 15' F350 is just fine |

I have a 2017 Rally 2, Z71, MVP...
I like it a LOT, the price not so much! Mine is a 5.3 model, and so fully optioned I can't believe it. Attached File |

I have a 2016 GMC Z71 and it's been trouble free.
I have had it almost a year now and it has 26k miles. Love the truck. Had a 2014 before and my son still has his 2014 Z71. The 14s have a few bugs but seems like they have all that sorted out now so a 2016 or 2017 should be GTG, mine is. |

Lame,at best..... There was even a spot on Fox News about similar problems with GM full size SUVs. You can find out more if you look. Resonant frequency vibration problems are no joke. Good luck. |
