I've been thinking about getting one.
They're 2k for a pup here in CA,but 500 at a farm in Kansas.

If the dog cleaned up after he shits everywhere 2k wouldn't be bad but holy crap that's a lot.

Corgis are awesome dogs, but 2K is a lot more than I'd spend.

I suppose I'm at the other end of the spectrum .

Been looking at Cane Corsos pretty hard.

Although, there is something cool about these little buggers.

We have a Corgi. Great little dog, but hard headed. They way he sheds makes our lab look hairless.
Super family dog! I would get another!

Try to find one at a rescue.

A neighbor down the street from me got both!

A muttbreed that's half GSD and half Corgi.  Seems that it's the top half of a GSD and the stumpy legs of a Corgi.

Love Corgis but one downside is the high desirability/cost. Good luck finding a decent one to adopt.

We ended up with a corgi mix (see avatar) by accident, but I've always wanted the genuine article.

I live in the bay area, and all the dogs up for adoption are pitbulls and chihuahuas. The two dogs I hate the most.

Why exactly is it better to adopt than buy a dog from a reputable breeder?

On a more rational note, corgi's are pretty cool.

Pretty smart dogs to boot.

I had a corgi. High strung, but very trainable. Good dog.

$2k is a lot. We bought ours in California for about 600 bucks. But that wasn't from a professional breeder.

I grew up with corgies, excellent excellent doggos. Super smart, very hardheaded but excellent family pups.

Trendy dogs just mean countless ones end up in pounds when they aren't cool anymore. Corgis replaced pugs which replaced chihuahuas which replaced dalmations...

If you or your SO think they're just so cute, look at pictures of them on Instagram.

Yea I know what your talking about. The dogs in the pounds around me are all chihuahuas and pitbulls. It seems that after the trend of them died, or their owners saw how hard it is to train them they just drop them.

I didn't to now Corgis wee still trendy. I thought they were always liked sort of like British pitbulls.

Have you looked at pounds lately? There aren't corgis in pounds. There are pits, pit mixes, beagles that have been raped by pits, and aliens dug up from the antarctic ice in the form of pits.

Trash dogs are owned by trash who do trashy things. There will soon be heaps of poorly bred, poorly socialized, poorly cared for cane corsos in pounds as they are becoming trendy.

Corgis are currently -as of right now- an in thing, any in a pound are going to be adopted quickly, just as pugs and chihuahuas were...until thry weren't trendy anymore. However, this will fall off and the people who HAD to have one or whatever mix they thought looked so cute don't want them anymore. This always happens and always leads to shitty breeders producing dogs with problems.

Farm in Kansas is probably a high volumebreeder that offers no health testing, health guarantee, or decent socialization and training of puppies. There is a huge difference between a well bred pup from a quality breeder and a puppy mill pup. Do your research. Find a breeder who health tests the parents and guarantees the pup's health and does early neurological stimulation and training. The extra cost is worth it a million times over.

For that money, I'd get a Norwich Terrier.

Start here. Over on the side there are tabs for members and rescue. You could also look at a retired show dog. Those are usually 1.5-2 years old, have finished their championship, and are looking for a home where they can be either a sole pet or one or just a couple. Breeders can't keep every dog they breed, show, or finish, and that's an excellent way to get a well trained, healthy dog at a reasonable price. My Borzoi's breeder just did that with a bitch whose sister she also had. She finished the championship both but got along with the sister an it better, so she found a great home for the one she didn't want to keep for herself.

We have one (tri color) and we want another one (red and white.)

As has been posted, the downsides are shedding and some stubbornness.  On the upside is their intelligence, trainability and friendlyness.  Ours loves everyone and everything.  They seem to act like big dogs with short legs.

Someone said theirs was high strung, but I don't think that's a common breed characteristic.  Ours is very excitable when it comes to going out (every trip is like the adventure of a lifetime) and having people visit, but that's about it.  He's equallly good at sleeping all day/night.

We paid around $700 from a small breeder in NC, but their prices have gone way up since then.  There are only a handful of breeders in our whole damn state and every one of them has a waiting list a couple of litters out.  I think prices are around $1200 or so.

Getting a "used" corgi is luck of the draw.  My wife is on some regional corgi group on Facebook and any time someone posts a link to a corgi up for adoption it's literally gone within hours.  The corgi specific rescue groups around here rarely have any dogs.

Most will bark anytime they move above a walking pace. And they heard and run circles around anything that moves. If youre ok with that then your GTG. Cute as hell!

I have a lab/corgi and same deal. He looks like a black lab with little short legs.

Edit to @notdeadyet
We have a corgidor too. My gf made www.corgidor.com for him.
