Not talking about service rifles, or M4 replacements, but if Arfcom had to pick between the SCAR-L, SCAR-H, ACE 5.56, or the ACE .308, which would it pick, and why?

Personally, I would pick the ACE 5.56. Mainly because I'm already heavily invested in 5.56 and AR mags. But also the cost of the rifle, and I once had a Century Golani Sporter year ago, that I was absolutely in love with.

Either SCAR, L preferred, then H.

ETA:

Thats out of the choices presented. Like others have said, I'd prefer a SR15 or maybe something from BCM for personal use... Recee 14?

I shot an L a while back and didn't feel like it did anything to justify the cost over an AR.

if i was going to get a 5.56 for that much money id get a knights armament sr15. (i had to make that decision last month, sr15 vs scar 16, i went sr15.)

I think the Galil Ace is nice for 7.62x39mm, however yeah for 5.56mm I prefer the KAC SR-15, and SCAR 17 Heavy for 308.

Do you need to shoot suppressed? If so I have heard shitty things about ACE's and suppressors.

Unless you need a super short 5.56, then an ACE-SB pistol. I would pick ACR or 805 5.56 and ACE or AR10 308.

SCARs are too spendy for me and provide no advantage.

Both 5.56 rifles are better and cheaper than an ACE or SCAR.

308 has the cheap ass PSA sale right now and the ACE is still $1000 cheaper than a SCAR. Or get a short FAL.

Meh neither

Scar rocks back n forth like a see-saw and the ace is like a gucci'd trash rifle that's not as cool as regular trash rifle.

If AR mags in 556 are a priority are a deciding factor, why not. Go with an XCR?

SR15
ACR
Bren 805

In that order.

I had a SCAR-L, and sold it. As a tool, great. Lightest recoil I have ever felt on a 5.56.. It was like shooting a .22 or blow back airgun. I sold it for said reasons.

SCAR-H I had, and a great rifle. Low recoiling, light, etc. I ended up having to sell it for lawyer fees.

Have an ACE in x51. Nice rifle, low recoil, and not front heavy like I was afraid of. Is it as nice as a SCAR? No. If I had to pick one or the other, I would pick the SCAR. But I wouldn't kick it out of the safe.

Had a scar 17 but decided .308 was stupid with having 6.5G and 6.5CM.

So liking the platform I got a scar 16 in FDE and promptly painted it.

Form 1 has been filed, super scar installed, and I dig it.

Next step is to get a 6.5G conversion for it.

Would of bought and ace but they are extremely overgassed and horrible suppressed.

Not sure where folks get this crazy notion of wild recoil impulse - but mine shoots like a pussycat.

I bought a SCAR 16.

I considered the 17, but ammo prices and the fact that a 5.56 rifle would be easier and more fun for my wife and kids to shoot turned me to the 16.  Plus, the ammo is lighter and easier to carry.

Out of those choices?

SCAR16 (L)

Real world? I'd use that $ to buy FLIR's new Thermal Scope PT233 from @NGI_Tom.

Nobody is going to tell you to get a galil over a SCAR. Except those weird commie loving gun show types that walk around in old Eastern European military issued clothing all day.

EDIT...maybe it's just me, but I just don't see the appeal to the Galil ACE, or the regular ol' Galil for that matter.

Had a SCAR L and H.  Still have the heavy, but sold the L for an SR15. COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.

I really do not see what an AK variant brings to the table that the SCAR doesn't.

ETA: The Galil couldn't be that great of a rifle especially since the Isrealis didn't even hardly use it.

SCAR 17 owners are pimpin hard.

Hopefully the cost of those mags will come down someday huh?

Speaking of the MWS...how are the new ones in the weight department.  There for a while I would see the older MWS's everywhere...but seeing a new "lightened" one is proving to be challenging.  Are they almost KAC ACC light?

Really?

$39.99 for a factory OEM steel mag doesnt seem super expensive to me? They run around double the price of a M3 20rd SR25 pattern mag mapgul offers (which they should ... steel cost vs polymer costs), but still no where near what factory LMT mags cost.

They don't seem heavy to me. I shoot mine a lot, I so I've gotten used to it.

It's heavier than a SCAR heavy lol, not by much. I haven't had any experience with the slick MWS other than handing one at a gun shop.

The weight seems a little lighter, better grip on the hand guard though. Its smaller, it feels less muzzle heavy.

SCAR is a great platform, just like teasing SCAR owners. Its like fucking with BMW owners and driving a Dodge.

I don't use overpriced KAC mags, there are better economical options out there.

I have a lot of options on mags with my LMT's
And the price range varies dramatically.

Lighten up Francis, I'm just fucking with you SCAR guys.
