There's talk of bringing back "Miami Vice" with Vin Diesel. And "The Munsters."

They really need to leave well enough alone on this one. Don't really give a shit about the Munsters, but Miami Vice needs to remain exactly as it was. A fond memory.

There is something about Vin Diesel that just irritates me.
I can't stand to watch anything he is in.

NBC is really reaching for something to get some ratings, they just dont have anything worth watching, they must be out of ideas.

Yup, a fond memory. It hasn't age so well, at least to me. I tried rewatching it and I couldn't. It was horrible.

If they were smart they would bring back Miami Vice digitally remastered and air the old episodes in prime time. It would cost next to nothing and probably beat the hell out of their newly created shows when it comes to ratings.

ETA: I'm an idiot, they couldn't run an old show in prime time because they would need to either cut their commercials in half or edit the hell out of the show to get enough time for the current amount of commercials.

Thanks for the lack of a link, OP (asshole).

Anyways, it's from Vin's production company. I think a reboot could work though I would try to go retro with it taking place in the 1980s again by re-using that era's style and music.

While I don't agree that they are "horrible" the old episodes have lost their dazzle to be sure. However, the Jim Zubiena episode still wows me.

Miami Vice was lightning in a bottle.

Strictly a thing of the 80s.

Pathetic that the studios and Hollywood can't come up with any original ideas.
Recycling old hits and ruining them by making them PC sucks.

They need to leave well enough alone and not ruin good memories.
If they do this it won't end well.

Miami Vice was not the greatest TV show but it was unique in several respects among the pack back in the 80's and I enjoyed it for that.  Due to it's popularity, nearly everything that followed had a little Miami Vice in it.   I doubt a modern version would be worth the time.

They already brought back The Munsters once. It was called Mockingbird Lane. I can't remember when it was,  not all that long ago. Eddie Izzard was grandpa, Jerry O'Connell was Herman, Portia de Rossi was Lily. It was supposed it be a pilot but they just used it as a one off Halloween movie.

There was also a syndicated reboot "the Munsters Today" that ran from 1988 to 1991 with John Shuck as Herman.

It wasn't a bad movie-it just wasn't Miami Vice. Neither lead had the charisma or the swagger.
