Will 75gr HPBT fit in an AR mag ok?  Hornady bullets.  1x8 twist should stabilize it well?

I know typically Hornady bullets are longer than similar weights in say Nosler Custom Comps, but believe you should be fine.

Edit: just checked and the 68 gr Hornady bthp is as long as 77gr NCC.

Yes to stabilizing.

I don't have a reloading manual in front of me right now, but I want to say that max overall length for .223 is something like 2.25" or 2.26"

You can always take a dummy round or 5 dummy rounds loaded with the Hornady 75gr HPBT bullet at say 2.25" overall length and put them in a magazine.

Then insert the magazine into the gun.  Then hand cycle the rounds through the gun using the bolt or charging handle...to see if it jams either in the mag or while feeding

Then collect the 5 ejected dummy rounds and measure them again to see if the bullets got pushed into the case.

The old timer way of doing it was to take a match or a candle to soot the bullet and then carefully inserting the round into the chamber...make the bolt go all the way home.

Then you carefully pull the  round out of the chamber and look at where the rifling rubbed off the soot.

Or instead of soot, you could use a black Sharpie marker.

Screw down your bullet seating die (stem/plug)  like a quarter of a turn in  order to seat the bullet deeper.

Rinse, repeat until the bullet comes out completely sooted up or black ink'ed still.

I am ASSuming Hi Tech ammo in Wentzville, MO is still open.

I bought my 75 gr Hornadys for about half of what 77gr SMK's are going for from Hi Tech.

I just haven't loaded any of the Hornady 75 grainers up yet.

EDIT:  Graf's and Sons of St. Charles, MO?

or Graf"s of Mexico, MO?
