Camping trip this weekend.
About to get the Ozark 73Q for $194 Any objections? Any sales for something similar? Thanks. My searches have come up empty so far. |

I will offer this up. I have a Yeti 45, the Walmart Ozark whatever, and a Kysek 35
Yeti- Bro Dozer white and its a decent cooler. Pretty heavy and solid as a rock. Not sure on cost as I didn't buy it. I think its $300-350 new or somewhere in that range. Walmart Ozark Trail- Seems like a decent deal. It does ok but honestly its nothing to write home about. I have actually been disappointed in it since picking it up. Kysek- Another freebie but so far I like this one. I put ice in it last Wednesday and still had ice on Saturday. Hands in and out of it getting water all day from my guys and putting water from inside the truck in it. I put a 16# bag in it Saturday night and still have a fair bit of ice in there and its bone chilling cold. I think if I had to buy it they cost around $275 from where I picked it up at. Heavy as fuck but it has wheels. Seems to be as big as my Yeti 45 outside. I have not done a side buy side because I am not that anal about it. I keep one in each personal truck and try to keep ice in them. Now after that I will say you have to "season" your ice chest. You cannot just go throw ice in it and expect it to last a few days. My FIL pointed it out because he over thinks shit. IF you put a bag in it the day before to chill it down it will hold ice like a champ. I would always not fuck with it around Thursday and by Sunday/Monday when ice would be added it wouldn't last that long. |

The OT's are cheaply made and the seals tend to be crap on most of them. They will get the job done, and are bear resistant with the latches which you need if you're camping in most state parks anymore in the west.
The Colemans are cheap but hold up pretty well when compared to the more expensive alternatives. If you are not in need of the bear resistance, I would suggest these. If you want a cooler that can take a beating, keep ice well, and won't completely kill your bank account, I would go with RTIC. I've got 1 20 and 2 45's from the fire sale they had in the spring. I have been very impressed with them. They hold ice well in the summer heat here. My only complaint is the metal handle on the 20 will pop loose and scratch the cooler if you rough it too much. As stated above, if you "season" it, add ice to get it to temp, drain the water after a day and add more ice, it will hold for a long time. My 45 went 5 days before the ice was gone sitting in my garage in 100F+ temps. YMMV. Much like anything, buy once, cry once. |

Which ever cooler you get OP, be sure to put a decal on the window of your vehicle, announcing to the world your brand of choice for keeping things cold.
Keeping things cold is serious business. Broadcast your decision in the form of a decal so the general public can collectively not give a shit about what brand you use to keep stuff cold. |

Honestly 3 days is all I'm looking for. But with all the little hands reaching in every 5 minutes I need something better. I get why people need the expensive coolers, but for a weekend at a campground I like using something I don't have to chain up. |

Ozark trail works OK, but the Coleman Xtreme coolers work just as well. They just don't have the latches. |

Great cooler. Lives out on deck on our boat and holds ice great. By far the best money i've spent on a cooler |

Just too much money. I'm not cheap but would rather spread the wealth. I recall mentioning of a Pelican cooler sale at Home Depot way back. Looking for something along the lines of a better cooler that is close to the Ozark price. Search continues! |
| I've got the 73qt OT and the 52qt OT. I pack the 73qt with beer, soda, juice, water, all warm. Dump 25# of ice on top and in and out of it all weekend for camping. Tuesday morning after work I'll grab a beer out of it and it's still ice cold. Tuesday night it's still cold. No complaints yet. |

I use the rtic 20 soft pack as a lunchbox for work, and for beers on weekends. It's awesome.
I put in refrigerated bottles of water, my artic chillen brew large icepak, and a regular medium ice pack, with my lunch items, in my van ALL day, over 120* inside my van, and my waters will have ice chunks in them. I love rtic. Yes, $100 lunchbox, but I use it over 260 days a year. So in actuality, it's worth it. |

Honest question, because I really don't know: What will a $200 cooler do that my old Coleman does not?
I just bought a pop-up camper and will be using it for the first time this weekend. I don't mind spending the money on a quality piece of gear, but I really don't know much about them. I DO know that Jayco campers have a weird wiring harness for their lights though

A Coleman 5 day Xtreme is absolutely the best bang for the buck. I wouldn't waste more money.
Buy these Ice packs, they are amazing::
