[ARCHIVED THREAD] - FFL transfer from EE (Page 1 of 3)
Posted: 7/18/2017 2:08:30 PM EDT
I bought a gun on the EE from a 13er with no feedback. We talk on the phone and I am comfortable with him. We do the deal through his FFL and I sent a USPS MO with signature confirmation to his FFL that shows delivered last Thursday. As of this afternoon, no tracking number. Seller and gun store employee inform me that the gun store owner has to ship the gun and is away on other business. The employee doesn't tell me when the gun is being shipped, just an "I don't know" I call the seller and tell him this is unacceptable and if it doesn't ship by the end of the week I want a refund (and suggested that he uses another FFL that can actually ship the gun.) Gun store owner just called me with an attitude and wants to know why I have a problem with it and claims he isn't making any money off the deal. He keeps telling me "well you want the gun now" and I correct him and said within a reasonable amount of time. So he says fine he will ship the gun today like he's doing me a favor. This is business 101, seller gets payment (cleared) and it's his responsibility to get the product to the customer ASAP.

No money= No care. |

I'll allow up to a week, so that a dude who works insane hours can make his way to the post office, UPS, FedEx, or wherever on a day off. But that's it. And I won't be too happy about it. After that, I'm getting my money back and moving on. |

The gunstore dropped the ball but it's still the seller's responsibility to get the gun transferred in a timely manner. He was ready to take it somewhere else until he called the store and then the owner called me all pissy. You insisted on the use of a third party. The third party is causing the delay. And you're getting upset with the seller, as if he has some kind of control over the third party. Is this a fair assessment? Your choices appear to have been security and convenience... but not both. |

Well, frankly you do sound kind of pissy. You insisted on the use of a third party. The third party is causing the delay. If that gunshop isn't charging more to ship it than it costs them, that's their fault. The FFL holder isn't required to ship a gun at his cost. If he decided to do that, he needs to take business 101 again.
I had a deal with a seller take about 3 weeks which was acceptable to me since he was on a business trip and we had discussed it prior to me sending payment. He had been involved in deals ranging from $800 to $5000. Communication is key.... |

Anything I list online is going to be boxed up and ready to ship right after the pics are taken.
Once payment clears, slap on shipping label and drop off with shipper. Should be 1-2 business days. If I'm out of town or otherwise indisposed I usually will not close the deal without giving the buyer ample notice of my timeline for shipping. They can agree to terms or back out, no hard feelings. |

Because he had no feedback and I asked to send payment to them after they got the gun in hand and release upon shipping. Quoted:

Why did you involve an FFL on his end, anyways? Quoted:
No, I did not insist on using a third party. He said in the beginning he would be shipping through his FFL. All I asked is if I could send the money order to them and he said no problem. |

Is within 5 business days reasonable? As soon as you can, and communicate extensively about it all throughout, until the deal is done. The number of days or business days? Anything outside of the same week on the calendar is not good. Plus, the EE has a forum for real EE stuff.
ETA: Wow, you can tell I didn't read the thread...
OP, if you need EE help, IM me. |

Whatever is discussed upfront and  to which both parties agree is reasonable. I just got tracking info a few minutes ago after the owner called me a while ago and asked me what the problem was. I just want what I paid for. |

After that, I'm getting my money back and moving on. If I'm selling something I try and get it shipped within a day or two after payment is received. Three days max and even then I feel like an asshole. |

We both agreed that when they got the USPS MO they would notify him to pick it up and they would ship it. They got the MO last Thursday before noon. I just got tracking info a few minutes ago after the owner called me a while ago and asked me what the problem was. I just want what I paid for. |
