"We didn't want to exclude ourself from the impending healthcare meltdown. But... I did want my vote and I knew that myself and my fellow politicians would never vote for it if they were going to have to buy their insurance like commoners. Don't get me wrong we want to repeal the ACA at all cost, as long as those costs are all on you. Now go be a peasant somewhere else." Our political system maybe broken beyond repair at this point. |

If I recall correctly, everyone got exemptions from Obamacare too.
It always makes me laugh when I hear people that want more government because they're the ones most likely to have your interests in mind and aren't as greedy as those evil businesses. Oh well, government gonna government. It will happen with the next one too, and so on and so forth. |
| I've said it before, but the only way we fix any of these things (healthcare, social security) is to ensure that congress has the same plans as all of us. Forget their special retirement pensions, special healthcare exemptions and any other exemptions. Make them subject to the same restrictions and plans we have and we'll see how fast those things get fixed. |

The current system is broke. No one gets there without owing a lot of favors to a lot of corporate donors. I see your points. Stand for what you believe in and vote your conscience and fight the good fight. Personally I don't vote for anything above the local level anymore and by that I mean city county local. Until there is something worth voting for I will just stay home and watch. You guys seem to have it under control and I'm much happier now that I've accepted this shitstorm for what it is, something completely out of my control at this point. The citizens united decision really cemented this whole dynamic in place and I'm not sure how we can recover from it. |

Damn near impossible to get a sane, intelligent, ethical person to run for office. If one does they usually get destroyed by the media or the crooks already in Congress. Probably won't change either.
Tax payers/producers in this country should be getting used to being screwed over since it has been going on for years and years. ![]()

That is a perfect snapshot of the issue. Most voters are single issue voters who get their information from Facebook memes, group think and political ads. In that world money matters. Iowans probably didn't vote for the L candidate because they had little to no exposure to them or their message because they only get their information from partisan sources. All we can do is work in our local area.I own a business and work people over every time they come in.Buddy of mine that runs a gun shop outside the next town over is the same way.We got a lot of votes for the Dr in our area, but without people in the cities doing the same thing (huge uphill battle),not much will change. We did easily boot our D State Rep a couple years ago and replaced him with a good pro gun R. Every one of my reps is a pro gun R,but we need to work on booting some of the other entrenched D's out here.Making a lot of progress in the pro gun department here. I have no fantasy about this country changing for the better in my lifetime, but I won't stop trying. |

The issue is, I believe that the left has covered their bases well. If the democrat party isn't showing signs of success-they That the republicans are doing stupid shit lately (at least since the 1990's) isn't too surprising to me at least given the propensity of the socialists to infiltrate their opposition to destroy it from within. When was the last time that the republicans acted like Republicans? The last time that they opposed any democrat politician? Stopped any democrat spending bill? |
