Pretty happy. Got a 112 year old shotgun working again. 1909 Remington pre-model 10 that I bought as a project. Action wouldn't close far enough for the bolt to lock, which made it unable to be disassembled.
Finally said fuck it, risked destruction(the gun wasn't working anyway, right?) and started prying to get the bolt separated from the action bar. After that everything came apart as Pedersen intended. And I found a steel BB jammed in the extractor groove above the barrel. Funny thing is, in the process I found a youtube video, a guy in Canada has one with a serial number only 1000 or so earlier than mine. Closest I've ever seen to a gun with a number consecutive to one I have. ETA-and if I ever consider a non working model 10 as a project again, kick me in the nuts. It'll be easier. Nothing in a model 10 is intuitive, and a Browning Auto-5 is easier to take apart and assemble. |

It gave me time to read books from 2004-6 to determine what was wrong with the economy. By 2006, I learned the dollar was doomed. I also retired early (we have a tendency to die young) and to enjoy what life I had left. Going on ten years now and it's been a blast and an adventure. Certainly less money, but a heckuva lot more fun. |

Just finished setting up tens shelves of bookcases (2 x 2 and 2 x 3). Made a stand for them and now need to get some trim wood. Anyway, five shelves are just aviation books and five are WW II material (German and American). If I shift things around and bring stuff downstairs, I think I can fill five shelves with just American WW II history material. The German stuff (2 shelves) can go into another bookcase.
