In 9mm, I want one. I've owned the XD 45 for years with no failures in thousands of rounds. Owners of the Mod 2 how do you like them. Xtra bonus is the awesome "Grip Zone"

Im still waiting on someone to get ate up with a case of hate and dump their socom off for cheap.
The gun feels good in my hand and shoots well. If you want one and the price is right I would get it. Despite all the talk about Springfield, there was sti alotnof them being bought and sold at the last gun show. I picked up an Xds in 9mm and am enjoying that gun. |
| I'm gonna say buy a first gen XD-9, no annoying "grip zone" and imo looks a lot better. I have a gen 1 XD-9 and I'm not afraid to say it's one of the best pistols you can buy. I have trained with mine and it has seen hell. In my experience they just don't break. |

Their billboard branding and keyword imprints are exactly why they are irrelevant to me now. I started with xds, had 3 versions, last being an xdm. Will likely never own another if they maintain their status quo of being gay. Like my 1911 though. |

I have a Mod 2.
I like the grip texture, don't like the Mod 2 grip styling. It fits my hand and I come up on target, unlike a lot of sub compact pistols. I really wanted a Glock 26, but the grip just doesn't work for me whereas the Mod 2's does. I has been reliable, but the slide recently stopped locking back after the last round in the magazine. Probably because the pistol needs cleaning after lots of rounds. I shoot the Mod 2 well with the short, flush mags and the extended mags are even better (but kinda large.) The front sight is very good for close and quick shooting and not bad for longer range fairly quick "precision shooting," meaning 4" steel at 25yds. Trigger is surprisingly good. I like the grip safety too. JPK |

Do we still hate Springfield for screwing IL? Far as I know the answer is still yes. To the OP... Mine came in the day before the shit hit the fan and has the distinction of being the last SA will ever buy. Mine is the bi-tone 9mm subcompact for what it's worth. I wanted a new carry gun and already did the shield thing. I opted for the XD for the free magazines. My first impression upon seeing it, was my you're a big bitch. It fit in the hand pretty well, but was too large for the pocket. The grip zone is retarded, but the actual texturing was very grippy without being aggressive. I held off on buying one for years because I remembered how cheap they were when they were HS2000's. That, and I didn't like the idea of the rails in the rear being plastic like the Ruger 95 series pistols. Though, I believe that the Ruger's rails were all poly. Looking over the gun and actually seeing how well it was manufactured, kind of killed any preconceived notions I had about them being cheap ass guns. I've ran 335 rounds of +p Gold dots and Federal HST's though it and it passed with flying colors. No jams, and a nice bright front sight. Hitting a steel plate at 25 yards was easy. I am highly impressed with the XD line, but you know... Fuck Springfield. |

We think SA or RRA could stop IL from passing even more anti-gun legislation?
lol... they absolutely cannot. The IL gun owners are not activists. Totally silent. As for as the XD in general... it's actually a pretty decent and comparable design, though nothing special. As for a Mod 2... if the 'gripzone' is the only thing that was changed, I wouldn't worry at all about gen1 vs 'mod 2'. XD9 was my first pistol ever. Picked it out before school one morning. My freshman year in high school. One of the benefits to getting driven into school by a parent I guess.

Handled their new hammer fired XD today.
That thing weighed a frikking ton! I handled a Sig 320 X5 moments later and I swear to god that much larger pistol felt lighter. How is that possible? I'm leaning towards the XD line is now cursed by demons or something.

meh...never again. Owned an XDM in 9 mm a few years ago, it jammed on both factory and reloaded ammo and was a bitch to get unjammed.
yeah...I know..SA has "excellent C.S.", but for me sending shit back and receiving it again is a royal PITA and sometimes is just not worth the effort, it being easier to just trade it in towards something else (note I said "trade", I wouldnt sell a gun with problems I know about to anyone"). Than there is the ridiculous billboard style branding.. |

Cool isn't it. Color filled would be extra cool! Really I can care less about the wording on the grip. I assume is creates more texture to grip.
It just seems like the pistol equivalent of Velcro on sneakers. Color fill only some of the letters so it reads as "RIP ONE." |

Attached File Attached File Finally downloaded the pics of my XD from my phone. I still like the gun and am fairly pleased with it, but the bastard is every bit as large as a .45 Shield. It wasn't as small as I had hoped it would be. Probably should have opted for the single stack. |

I traded my Para 14.45 for a Mod 2 plus $75 a couple years ago. Good gun, nice trigger. It's not as top-heavy as my XDM compact 3.8. I hate that the XDM and XD mags are not compatible though. Of course everybody can do without the Grip ZonetmĀ |
