Doing it myself. Not paying someone to do what I can do. I'm just not looking forward to it.

Depending on exactly where that is (i.e., what it is interfering with), I would probably pay a pro.

Ugh. Looks heavy.  Are you going to cut it up.youself, or let your homeowner's insurance take care of it?

Come on. Chopping it up with a chainsaw is fun. The spliting and stacking is what sucks.

Just be careful, blown over trees can be very dangerous.  Relief cuts are your friend.

Put an ad on Craigslist saying you're casting a new reality show and are having try-out for the shelter and fire building portions tomorrow.

Bring your own axe.

Alternatively, put an ad on their M4M section headlined "Got Wood? I do! Meet me at (your address) tomorrow between 8 and 4."

It's in the far corner of a cattle pasture.  I'm going to try to cut it up tomorrow and throw it on a burn pile but it's a lot of wood. Not sure if I can save the fence it looks pretty mashed.

Box Elder is very popular among the woodworking crowd for making stuff on a lathe.

I bet you would find a taker for at least some of it.

That's a lot of wood to move by hand, I do not envy you.  I would quarter it and stack it.  Good bonfire outside wood when it dries out next year.

You want to do it all by hand smart ass   It's a lot of work chopping that up small enough to carry and carrying it out.
I'll pay your gas to drive down here and show me how it's done.

Why not just trim the fence and staple it to the trunk and leave it there. Not like a cow is going to scale it and escape.

Then you can go chug beers and talk about how you "gotta cut that up soon".

There's no cows in that pasture right now or else I'd be out there right now still cutting it up and cussing

I do. Cutting it up will be the easy part. The shitty part is carrying it 50 yards to the burn pile.

That spot looks like a great location for the new and improved burn pile 2017.

I'd be looking into the tax deductions available for property improvements.

Your property on both sides of the fence? I think I'd just remove enough to get it on the ground and then some to allow your fence to be rebuilt.

gotta post it to your local woodworking groups on fb or instagram or forum.  Reclaimed wood is big, especially when good wood costs a fortune from wood stores.

If you let it set a while after you cut it, it won't need so much diesel to burn.

Or just add a few tires. Pretty sure I could get concrete to burn with diesel and tires.

I got diesel but no tires. It's gotta sit for a while before it dries out enough to really get it burning.

I was taught about that technique  when I was a kid. The old man told me he uses  "black oak" to get the burn piles going. Waste oil, deisel, and tractor tires are "black oak".

He wasn't wrong. That shit worked!
