First one this year.
A Mojito is just about the perfect summer cocktail. Coconut rum and pineapple juice is a distant, but deservedly, second. |

I make my mojitos with sweetened lime juice (as well as real limes), coconut rum, and Sprite (instead of club soda/seltzer/whatever). It's certainly amazing. |

Yes, I love 'em even if it makes you gay (or some would say.) Try a Caipirinha

I used to hate making them, but they have a bunch of great variations
blue berry, cucumber and jalapeno variations are great I don't even muddle them there is no need to (at least with a basic mojito, the variations I muddle) take half a lime and grab a lime squeezer and you usually get around 1/2 oz of fresh lime juice, drop in around 1OZ of simple syrup, add rum and shake then clap some mint and roll it off your hands, fill soda I can actually make these decently fast while bartending, give the muddler a rest |

Fuck no. I substitute in Sprite. Trust me. Awesome. Quoted:

Mojitos are awesome when you substitute the soda water with seltzer water. Gets rid of that nasty sodium bicarbonate taste. |

I know people who do that. In my opinion, they have the palate sophistication of a small child. To each their own. what I think of your "palate sophistication" in regards to a very simple rum drink. Earth to you: It isn't about "sophistication" or anything else other than what fucking tastes good. If you think club soda (which has absolutely ZERO taste) tastes better than Sprite---which is both sweet and lemon/lime-y; I think that pretty much speaks to your "palate sophistication" (or lack thereof).

Greatest drink ever. Texas de Brazil makes one with raspberries. So. Damn. Good. One of them taught me how to make a really good one: Large tumbler, filled 2/3rds with ice. Pour a mound of super fine sugar on ice. Cut 1 large lime into eighths, squeeze them into the glass on top of the sugar, throw all of the squeezed lime parts into glass as well. Fill glass 2/3rds full of vodka, pouring over the sugar. Don't stir. No muddling. Go sit in the hot sun and drink. The melting ice, lime rinds and undissolved sugar will keep it tasting good long after a normal cocktail would start tasting bad. |

Palate sophistication? LMFAO Wow. You know...they should've sent an obscene poet. I can't even think of a string of obscenities which could adequately describe what I think of your "palate sophistication" in regards to a very simple rum drink.
