Tried both.
I'm not certain of this but the MRO seemed to have slightly more than true 1x to me. More distortion than the true 1x of the pro. Add to that the fish eye around the perimeter of the glass. Very noticeable. I walked into my local outdoor supplier really wanting to get the MRO. After handling it for ten seconds I said nope! I'll stick to aimpoints. And believe me I really don't like aimpoints. They are everywhere, everyone loves them, and the contrairian in me wants to like something, anything more than the aimpoint. At the end of the day though there is a reason they are so ubiquitous. |

Got a Trijicon Reflex and now feel those things should be considered as a gateway drug.
An ACOG TA33GH then gave me my next fix. Then the Aimpoint / MRO quandry hit me. I chose MRO and I'm happy as a guy with a new set of tits to play with. Your mileage may vary. |

Man this thread is deadlocked!
I have an MRO, but honestly its my first 'quality' optic. I didn't try anything else. I love it and would get more, but honestly I wouldn't mind trying the Aimpoint PRO as well. The MRO is built like a tank(7075 aluminum), in Michigan, the dot is crisp, the glass is great, the brightness dial is great, the mount it came with(factory co-witness) is plenty good enough. Has a bible verse on the side if you're into Jesus(psalm 18:28) I got it from AIM Surplus maybe 6months ago for $400 +tax, shipped free |

Ya'll keep forgetting about the Aimpoint Micro, as the clear winner in this debate. A.W.D. I asked this same question in a thread in the tech forum. After reading it, if weight is any concern for you, then the MRO (for the money) is the answer. |

OP didn't ask about the micro lol. I think he's trying to compare similarly priced setups. Quoted:

I've looked at both. Astigmatism fucking sucks. 1-8x scope ftw.
I've been eyeing the Primary Arms 1-6x and 1-8x Second Focal Plane scopes. The First Focal Plane would be nice but it's $1k / 3x more expensive. |

MRO. Not only is it lighter w/greater battery life, the controls are more ergonomic and it comes w/a lifetime warranty (AP's do not).
Out of all the dozens of people who have tried one of my MRO's, not a single one has complained about (or even commented on) tint, magnification, etc. The PRO, while a good optic, still has that exposed switch knob that can break from impact rendering the optic DOA (there's a reason the CompM4 & M4S went to a knob that's physically disconnected from the switch).
