Anyone have one of these? Thinking about ordering one so me and the kid can try it out. I know that the old wooden bucket style is cheaper, but the kitchenaid doesn't use salt and ice. It's supposed to make softer ice cream as well.

Bought one kid used it once.   Also has to be frozen for it to work.

That's probably what will happen in our case as well, lol

Wife had a maker with a paddle that spun around to mix the ice cream. As it thickened, the paddle had to work harder. Eventually the paddle broke.  The replacement eventually broke, etc.

Costco had a Cuisinart ICE-30BC. The bowl spins and there is a fixed paddle that stirs the ingredients as the bowl rotates. Works fantastic.  So great, I bought a second one so we can crank out the goods quickly.
