Holy crap, the lady is an idiot.   Granted it is a touch of hyperbole, but not much, as she wants no/limited encryption for everyone that isn't in the government, including internet, OS, phones, etc.  So they can snoop wherever and whenever they want.

Valid point.  Although I am curious to see how it'll effect the guys that get stationed in the UK in the .mil.  It's not like the UK can do all that shit to the soldiers/airman or comms after all.  So will the bases have to set up extra stuff so servicemen can say 'fucking faggot shit' on xbox?

I would like to see Bing, Google, Gmail, Yahoo email, Apple iOs, Twitter, Facebook etc. impose a 48-hour embargo in IP addresses originating from the UK, so Brits can get a taste of what May wants for them.  Just long enough to annoy everyone in the UK, but not really long enough to make Brits permanently switch to new platforms. Redirect the Brits to landing pages that state what May wants in a short, easily readable list.

Right before the elections....

Is there a source for that list of proposals?

ETA: The very next paragraph.

Theresa May will say that she doesn't want to do any of this. She'll say that she can implement weaker versions of it -- say, only blocking some "notorious" sites that carry secure software. But anything less than the programme above will have no material effect on the ability of criminals to carry on perfectly secret conversations that "we cannot read".

So the author has taken liberties by attributing a set of proposed actions that have not been proposed because he feels that whatever is actually proposed in response will be ineffective.

All the companies you listed bend to the censorship and eavesdropping rules that the PRC imposes with the Great Firewall of China.

They don't give two shits. They're all Leftist Global Elites.

The question is what will Trump do?  He made statements back in the San Bernardino shooting days that had me concerned.  That being said as a Trump supporter back then before it was cool to support Trump.  He made statements along the lines of "Companies (Apple) should be required to have back doors so that the government can easily access devices."  That was also back when the "experts" here said it was impossible to crack that version of the iPhone.  I would to think that Trump received bad guidance on the issue but that is still unknown.

Well, blocking GitHub and SourceForge would do nothing. These are code repositories that contain open source software. They can't do anything. You have to write code that will use the code in the library files provided.
It's kind of like blocking the importation of truck tires to prevent people from getting run over by trucks.
