Are you sure the wireless models won't also work wired?  I have a newer hp wireless laser jet that I can hook up with a printer cable also.

Our wireless printer kept getting lost also.  I figured out how to set it with a fixed IP address and it has been great ever since.

Pretty sure you can plug into it because that's how you trouble shoot it.

Brother laser printers were highly recommended recently when I was looking to replace my hp inkjet. So far so good. Power up the printer, connect usb and print in seconds.

Bought an epson 6 months ago and it's been great. Can print straight from iPhone and iPad. It's never lost network.

Yep, I just checked out some Brother printers, they have exactly what I want, good price to, compared to HP for sure.
Thanks

I guess I don't understand what the issue with wireless printers is? Do you find wireless printers to be less reliable? Do you not have wifi coverage where you want to put the printer?

What do you mean "hardwired"? RJ45/ethernet or USB?

The printer goes ghost and will not print, no reason, the wireless router is 6 ft away
Hard wired is a term used for a direct cable of some type that connects the printer to the PC

Get the Brother laser printer/all-in-one that meets your needs. They work without issue and the per page cost is less than other brands.

Does your wireless printer not have a USB Port? Every wireless-capable printer I have had has had a USB port....

Most wireless printers I've seen have a cat 6 jack/USB port on them. A lot of them need to be hooked to a network to set the wireless up.

I've been using wireless printing for like 10 years. No issues

Needs a static IP.

Sounds like you need to assign the printer a static IP address. Lots of wireless devices get lost waiting on DHCP to assign them an address lease.

Probably into selling scans for cheap cartridge replacements by now.

Have had a Brother MFC-9340cdw for a couple years it has ran flawless.  Haven't put it on a static IP and I can still always print to it.

Get a Brother, they are as solid as HP used to be as far as reliability.

HP has gone down the tubes of late in terms if reliable long term.   I've got a Brother from a decade ago and I'm still on the original drum, though from light use.

As noted above, the "DN" model HP laser has ethernet (or at least  mine does).

I use wireless, but I set the router to assign a static IP to the mac address of the printer to avoid losing it.

That isn't a static address, its a DHCP reservation.  A static address is set on the device and excluded from the DHCP scope..

Try doing it through DHCP settings in your router. All the routers GUIs are a little different, but it shouldn't be hard to find.

That's what I had to do to both HP and Brother printers we've had, give them a static IP or they would get lost on wireless sooner or later.

They all have an option to hard wire.
as well as wireless.

check the detailed specs.

its almost always done via usb and many routers now have USB ports.
