Is the blade 1 foot or 7 feet ?  Side view of the blade close up and the whole sword will help

The blade would go a long way into IDing this.

The hilt looks like a European cavalry sabre design.

Whoa whoa whoa!

Don't overburden us with info, like the length of the blade or where it was brought back from.  Particularly don't tell us about any markings on the blade or hilt.

With the time you saved not taking pictures you should have cleaned up your house.

Yes, my parents are hoarders, my sister and I try to help but it goes nowhere.

Everything is vintage, the table the furniture, it's getting worse.

Their washer and dryer were a wedding gift from my grandparents.  They were a wedding gift to them from their parents.

Both may tag, both work from be for being 80 years old.

Looks like any kind of the thousand variations on a cavalry saber

It also looks like you should clean the floor

from what I'm seeing is that the hilt is held in place via peened tang. the tang appears stick.

the place looks like my grand parents did.

Take it somewhere and have an appraisal done for insurance purposes.

If it is just a run of the mill production saber, you have a mighty fine watermelon / cantaloupe slicer for your kids to play with.
