On second thought, at least it hasn't swelled to a ridiculous size like the stuff GM trys and fails at.

Ugly as shit! is that a STI front end on it?
5/17/2017 1:22:51 PM EDT
[#17]
Old school Ford Ranchero with the front that looks like old shool Falcon was cooler.

Even had shock tower braces to stiffen up for better handling.

[#18]
That's the Australian version of a utility vehicle or what we call a pick-up truck. Here's a different version of the Falcon with a flat bed.

Small tool boxes in the back.

Someone drifting a Falcon on a race track.

They aren't selling them anymore in Australia. They've axed it. But here's a dealership photo where they have factory-painted caps.
5/17/2017 1:30:47 PM EDT
[#19]
It's called a Ranchero and it was sold here once upon a time.  They make for both a shitty car and a shitty pickup all at the same time.
5/17/2017 1:33:58 PM EDT
[#20]
You've seen it, you've heard it, and you are still asking questions?!

GM makes one, the Holden Ute. There is a company in the US that converts them to LHD, called Left Hand Utes. Wish I had a use for one, instead have a Chevy SS.

i don't get it.  What is the point of a car with a bed?  just stupid.  a car\truck that fails at both?

I've always been kind of a Ford guy (not sure how that happened, but that's how it keeps working out), but if I was to somehow get my hands on a ute, it'd be a Holden.

It really seems to have worked out that way.  What's the other end of the scale?  A suburban?  The good parts of a truck and the good part of a car?
5/17/2017 3:09:52 PM EDT
[#38]
Old school Falcon was the best Falcon.  My first car was a 1969 Falcon.  I worked PT at an autobody shop. I prepped it and they painted it (for the cost of the paint) Ford Mustang Grabber Blue.
I modded the fake hood scoop to actually function, stacked two air filters, slapped on a Thrust muffler (snick) and went honing around.

El Camino was a Chevy.  Ford's version was the Ranchero.  Subaru's version was the Brat.

I always thought the Avalanche was the best of both car and truck... I own an SUV and like it, but I always run into height restrictions.

Ahh, finally an urban yute I can agree with!

Ugly, looks like a 1983 Dodge Rampage.

How well did those sell.......

That thing got a Hemi?
5/17/2017 3:30:56 PM EDT

I would buy one if it was available in the states. I have the geandaddy awaiting overhaul in my barn.

I was just figuring on popularity.  Suburbans, Excursions, Expeditions, Sequoias, are all pretty popular compared to just the one convertible offering and the now non-existent car with a bed.

It's everything I didn't want in a car combined with what I also don't want in a truck.

Yeah. The interiors have gotten car like. But they still have a body on frame, solid rear axle, sometimes a solid front axle, real 4wd, etc etc.

So yeah, not really just a big car with a bed.

These Ute things I'm assuming are unibody, independent rear suspension, lightweight cars with beds.

Looks like an old Ford Probe got buttf**ed by a pickup truck...gross.

They should at least call it the Ford Ranchero since that is what it is a modern incarnation of.

Just like the redone T-bird, they seem to have informed their styling by looking in a 60 year old womans purse.
