What are the best mass building supplements? I have been trying to build a little more mass but I am having trouble weight and reps keep going up, haven't hit plateau.
-> Aside from anabolic steroids obviously.

Food and consistency.

No supplements really do much.

Creatine is the only thing proven to have any benefit.  I like pre workouts for the energy boost and a little whey protein just to fill voids.

Beyond that its just a market full of bs.

You contradicted yourself.

OP,

"Supplements" are just that. They are meant to supplement the diet. Proteins are proven to build muscle. Don't forget your vitamin A if you start pounding the Protein.

As far the rest, it takes time and a whole lot of $ to find what you think works and see results..IF it were me, starting over or starting, I would get into the habitual routines of hitting the weight pile and then inserting the supplements...

Been lifting a long, long, time..All I take are protein, vitamin A and an occasional pre for certain days (legs).

Oh..Don't be a pussy when it comes to legs, hit them often and hard, will help with nat levels of testosterone.

Protein and carbs.  Everyone's metabolism is different but if you are putting in the work diet is going to key.

The correct answer to your question is more food.

But I'd be more concerned about expectations.  How long have you been training?  A lot of beginners see strength gains in the gym without proportional "muscle" gains simply because they get better at lifting and recruiting muscle fibers for lifts.  To a certain extent you need to push through the "beginner gains" before you can expect significant hypertrophy response.

Also, you don't mention what program you are running.  Are you running something that is anchored with squats and deadlifts?

Rest and nutrition.  Seriously.

Make sure your giving your muscles enough time to recover between work out days, and try to eat four or five times a day.  I think most people need to supplement with some whey protein in addition to eating well.

IIRC, you should be getting 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight per day for body building.  So a 175 pound guy would need 175 to 260 grams of protein a day.  Given that a single chicken breast has something like 40g of protein, a similar sized piece of beef has 30g, and an egg has 6g, supplementing with a protein powder makes life easier.

Also if you're plateauing, change up your work out by changing your compound movement exercises.  i.e., do decline and incline dumbbell presses instead of bench presses, bent rows or pull ups instead of lat pull downs, barbell curls (in the squat rack, of course ) instead of preacher curls, etc.

ETA: Squats.  Do squats.

It engages 60% of your body's muscle mass.  Your body's response, the one that causes muscle growth, will be triggered much more intensely by that than anything else.  Since the components that build muscle aren't sent in a targeted fashion to just the muscles that you work out, they're sent body wide through your blood stream, do squats.

This is not something I am familiar with. I have heard about B-6 and protein but Vitamin A is new to me. Would you give me a quick lesson on why? Serious question, I'm not being a smart ass. Thanks

Here's a breakdown of bodybuilding results

<----------------------------------------TOTAL RESULTS----------------------------------------->

<-------------------------------Food and hard work---------------------------------><-supps->

It's not even to scale.  The supplements account for an even smaller proportion of the end result.  I just couldn't make that sections smaller than 5 letters.

But yeah, unless you start fucking with chemistry, the only way to do it is to put in the time.  Eat like it is your job, make each workout hurt.

This is how you build mass, but I don't recommend it.  I did all that when I was young and dumb.  Ninety percent of those supplements get flushed down the toilet.

Exercise and lift weights for strength and conditioning, eat right and be happy with what you have.  In 20 years you'll be wishing you had saved the money you spent and be trying hard to squeeze in 2-3 hours per week of exercise... if you exercise at all.

How many times week?

When I was really into it, I was on a 3 day split with one rest day, and eating like crazy.  Got stronger, but no mass gains.  I added a rest day between each workout day, and put on 20 pounds in one summer.

Rest is just as important as nutrition.

Also, do squats.

No real leg work out? Squat or presses. You need to redo that routine. You sure like doing arms & chest that's for sure.
Got to get some back, trap & legs work in there..

First thing to do would be to download MyFitnessPal, get an idea of how many calories/macros you are taking in daily. Don't cheat it and fudge the numbers.

If you aren't growing, increase calorie intake and adjust Macros accordingly. There is also Protein shakes out there help with putting more mass on with more calories per scoop. You can bulk dirty if you want (eating junk food etc etc) But a healthy bulk by eating healthy carbs/fat and steady protein uptake. Eating "more" is hard at first, so i started eating peanut butter at the end of the day on the bottom of my cut to help increase calories.

There is no "secret" industry additional supplement other than Creatine, 5g a day other than anabolic roids.
If you aren't advancing in your current program, may be time to re-structure program.

Set goals and be strict with program/diet and you too can be a sexual tyrannosaurs, just like me.

Edit: Just saw program, need to include three core compounds Bench, DL, and Squat and maybe read starting strength get you on course.

That is SO TRUE!

I find it very easy to go to the gym several times a week.  I find it very hard to force myself to eat enough calories to make any mass gains.  I'm getting stronger and feel much better, but I'm not gaining any weight.

Protien, creatine, multi vitamin, and agmantine. The rest is worthless IMO.

Stay away from all the Prohormones/designer steroids/SARMS. Instead, just get Test  if you want to go this route.
