They need to cut to the chase and just re-release the Python already.

And when you see the price you still won't be.

They won't be much less than what they go for now....

If Colt brought back regular production Python's, what would they sell for? My guess is $1,600.

Colt released a new snake gun in .38 the same year I turned 38.
Coincidence? Probably, but Imma still get one before the end of the year.

If Colt brought back regular production Pythons they would probably have an alloy frame and a Hillary hole, or some retarded shit like that, and they would have an MSRP of $2500.

I like Colt, and it kills me to say this, but given the current economics of production, I don't think they CAN build a truly great, new Python, at any kind of price point the market would bear.

1. The tooling doesn't exist.
2. There was a lot of hand fitting/tuning involved in Python production.
3. They would be more than $free so people would complain relentlessly about the price.
4. The Python's design is legitimately bad. The horrible hand design results in gradual deformation with use and causes the notorious timing issues. The v-spring action is also a bitch to work on and it is getting hard to find a smith who will work on the damn things.

Colt's website shows MSRP of $699
.
If real world price was much under that, I'd be tempted.

It would be nice if they could make them of the same quality of decades past. I guess I was dreaming.

That would likely be a minimum.  They were extensively hand polished to get the royal blue look.

That is a lot of skilled labor needed for a small market item.

Exactly.

The American gun buying public voted with their dollars, and they voted for inexpensive polymer guns.

The market responded, and the days of truly great wheelguns carved out of steel are over.

/thread.

We already determined that these are very dangerous guns because the cylinder release is backwards. Not to mention, if I'm in a hurry and take my boolit out of my pocket to load it under pressure, the darn cylinder even rotates backwards and that might get me killed because I might put my boolit in the wrong hole. And that's assuming that I could even get the cylinder released because it's backwards. Stay away.
