Spoiler Alert: No long guns, or guns from HK that people want that they no longer make, will be made at the plant, only VP9s.

A U.S. - made HK 93 for a reasonable price would be awesome!
So looking forward to this. |

They already made HK45s or HK45cs or something in the US. If they made roller locked guns and the other goodies subject to arms import/export restrictions, it may be worth their while. But I have a feeling all we will see are pistols and MR556/762 rifles, albeit at a possibly lower price point.

MP-5 in 10mm now! Heck, make the G-11. We can has caseless.
Nope, none of the above. |

Tooling up for hk433 which they hope to sell in large numbers to us civilians and LE agencies.

How many times have they announced they're putting up a factory in Georgia? Maybe a dozen since 1994?
|
|
|
The good news is that they are building a new factory. The bad news is that they are only going to manufacture the nuetered SL8 and the retail price is going to $4,000.

The nude picture of various generals with dead women and/or live boys must have gotten back to Germany so they know they'll be selling us a pile more overpriced rifles.

I'd buy a factory UMP in a heartbeat. My USC conversion was expensive, but a factory UMP would probably be $500 more than a USC and conversion

That is incredibly accurate but I was referencing MP7 or G36 type shit View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

About 30 years too late and it'll be x5 too much. If PTR decides to make an HK-93 or MP5 clone, it's GG. Everyone ate HK's lunch. PTR makes a $1,000 G3 clone, there are 3 or 4 MP5 clones for $1,700 or less. No mainstream gunbuying consumers will want an SL-8 or civie UMP. It's not a good market place to be in - trying to sell a neutered product for a premium price to small group of people with the actual means to buy it.

Huh.
Maybe I need to loosen up the tinfoil, but I have to wonder if it has anything to do with this H&K’s Compact Semi Automatic Sniper System |

You think joglee is automatically paged every time HK is mentioned?

Hmm.
DOD announces the fielding of 7.62 battle rifles and there is talk of it replacing every rifle in the squad. HK makes said weapon. http://soldiersystems.net/2017/05/03/us-army-7-62-rifle-update/ HK announces factory in GA which can expand capacity and it's Berry compliant. Nope, you aren't getting retro war horses, you are getting an HK AR10 variant which could be handed to every soldier in BCT. Back we go to limited capacity mags, a 10 pound rifle, and less ammo on the load out, all to fire more expensive ammo that we won't train the soldier to get first round hits with any better than we have the last 75 years. Or it's the LSAT, which is right up their alley. Expect that to be ITAR protected USG property with no civilian sales allowed. |

I hope they make some of their cool stuff and don't price it out of reason.
Just because I can afford something doesn't mean I'll pay it when there's comparable stuff for half the price. (CZ Scorpion) |

They've had the Columbus factory forever. Why are we acting like this is a new development for them?

Unless they sell the semi auto MP7 and have pre-arranged contracts with Federal, Barnaul, and Winchester for ammo, I couldn't give a shit.
