Every night at exactly 805 pm my internet takes a shit until about 9am.
Last night a tech said I was being bombarded with p1 packets .The number he said was 130 . The guy did something and it worked for twenty minutes then back to nothing. Tech tonight couldn't figure out anything and they're sending someone out on Saturday. Anyone have an idea what's going on? |

I have whatever you normally get with my service. ![]() |

It could be anything from local loop saturation to environmental factors, but with the limited amount of information you have it's hard to say. When I was on Comcast, they would push routing updates at 2am Sunday mornings, every week.. I'd lose service for anywhere from two to five minutes like clockwork. Losing almost an hour a day is pretty bizarre. |

You can try to control the security if you haven't tried these yet. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2409751,00.asp |

Despite my user name I am computer basic. (Remember this) Also a funny side note I once made a thread arguing I wanted my router to be wireless from my modem so I could connect the PC to the router and get plug in speeds. not thinking well it's still wireless from the modem and wont change anything; After a few hours of being pissed thinking I was being trolled by responses and not understanding why I was getting laughed at it dawned on me how dumb I really was
That being said have you checked your routers logs? I was getting dc'd all the time and changed my wireless channel and set the routers mac address to use the computers instead. ( I believe this changed MY IP) and caused me to quit randomly getting flooded with packets that my router could not handle and would quit working for 15ish minutes. I think I got that right anyway been in the exact same spot.

1) do you have any neighbors, do they have the same isssue?
2) are you watering your yard between 6-8 pm? I would ask neighbors if they have issues as well. if not then it has to be between the " hub" by your house and your modem. thats why im wondering if water is getting into something. causing a short, untill it drys out. |
| Hacked and virus that gave your address to nefarious folks trying to call/log in through your computer and back out to the web. Causing a shit load of data to get squeezed through a system not designed for it. Compleatly screwing up the bandwidth. ISP should be able to see it. Or Aliens ? |

either an amplifier is switching off or someone is back feeding on the COX cable at those times.
run a ping test from an administrator prompt and post the ping times. type this command "ping google.com -t" post what happens when it's working correctly and when it's not. Â |

Ran into something similar way back in '14 when I had one of those job things.. Some dipshit IT commando was auto dumping data to another location via static address. Dipshit typo'd the address & my customer was dealing with bits & bytes flooding just after 11pm eastern time. You are 3 (4?) time zones away.Â
Perhaps same dipshit IT commando is dating one of your ex's and is flooding you with unwanted ones & zeros. Suggest to the next tech that you want a different router and different port on the server. |
| Well I figured it out the only make it weirder, the horse it to Through the Wire and down in the bush with the weird part is issued all the way through three quarters of the wire but it still worked from 9 in the morning till eight at night and exactly 8:05 it would shut off |

One of the least likely, but also most interesting potential reasons is a hacking group
If you never changed the password from the original serup it can easily be accessed, from there a hacker can set up your system as extra computing power to help them hack other people. Essentially a hacker may be using any devices connected to your internet system to steal data. It isn't too common, but it isn't unheard of What you are describing is a possible symptom. All that internet shit is voodoo and magic as far as I know. Call a priest or a medicine man or something... During my brief stint in IT, I knew NOTHING... but my limited success was due to sacrificing a small, furry animal at the equinox and solstice. |
