Just bought a house 6 months ago and it has the centricon termite things all around the house.  Flat green discs. Just got a letter from the pest control company wanting 300 dollars to continue the warranty.

Is it worth it? Over priced?

I don't know anything about this product. I do know the house does not have termites.

I had active termites in our 5year old home last year.  They charged around 800 to treat and put under contract.

If you live in an area prone to them and don't have time to be hella vigilant, then do it. Its what I do.

We had no idea the termites were here until they started swarming.

Our ongoing agreement is about $300 a year. Covers ongoing bait stations and inspection. If termites do get established any further treatment would be covered as well

Better safe than sorry. Part with the $$$. I had termites at my old house and it was worth the solution.

So the 300 is about the going rate?

It's cheaper than getting a new contract.  We were quoted $900.

I'd pay $300 to renew in a heartbeat.

Pay 300 a year and maybe never get them or don't pay and possibly get them 5 years from now. Either way, you are over paying. You can treat the foundation around your house yourself for 1/3 that cost and probably never get them.

Never had a house that did and I live in areas very prone to getting them but I'm also very proactive.

I think my annually fee for the Centricon is about $225.  I'd pay $300 annually if that was the charge.  I'd rather have the coverage they provide then to have to face a massive repair bill if the situation arose.

I pay $55/yr for maintenance agree with a mom and pop outfit.  I do get a bit of a discount because my BIL knows them so I'm not sure what the regular rate is.  Had to treat the detached garage last year and replace the garage door header due to damage.

Google centricon termite control and its really not a favorable method except for the people providing the service as its cheaper for them and a higher profit margin.
