He was not amused.

Cocktail and extra horseradish.

He'll eat anything, the look he gave me after was priceless though.

Lol. I have to be in the right mood generally after a few beers. Littlenecks are good too.

Oh I am so upset I found raw oysters in my 30s.

I LOVE them and love going back to New England just for fresh ones at every chance I get.

Hell, I didn't find them till my 50's.

The best I've had (considering I live in IN...) were a couple weeks ago in Perdido Key at the Crab Trap. So clean tasting and just the right size.

Little squeeze of lemon and tobasco..........!

I would never eat them raw, then one evening while drinking with the neighbor, his friend came by with an ice chest full of them, I was drunk enough to give it a try.

Damn tasty, love 'em since then.

While I dearly love nice fresh oysters, I have to admit that visually they are pretty awful looking.  My brother once said they look like either something you stepped on, or something a seagull dropped onto the sidewalk from it's backside.   I wonder just how hungry the first guy that ate one was...

If you can get by the look and texture, they are pretty damn tasty.

I've had about 15 different kinds.  All are a little different in taste.    The Pacific NW has some really good ones.  We have some average to pretty good ones in New England.

This is the correct answer. IF anything, MAYBE a dash of lemon juice.

Why cover up the flavor of the food you're eating?

I love some raw oysters. Sadly I either seem to have developed an allergy, or always happen to get food poisoning from them, so I've stopped eating them altogether

There's a famous quote along the lines of 'It was a brave man who first ate an oyster." Believe it is credited to Jonathan Swift

In for the answer to this.  Living in the Midwest, I don't even know where I'd go to buy some.

I'll be honest though, they look pretty disgusting.  I'll probably get falling down drunk before I try one then when I throw up later, I can blame it on the raw oysters.

I've always wondered what Gog the caveman said to Og the caveman when Og told Gog about eating an egg.  "You ate what that came out of where?"

Love oysters like Bubba loves shrimp.  Maybe it was the setting or maybe they were superb - the most enjoyable raw oysters I've had was on the historic waterfront in <edit> Charleston Savannah at the Oyster Bar.  There was significant beer involved.

Reminds me of one party during college and feasting on oysters as fast as I could shuck them. Great times cold beer and fresh
oysters, not many things better

Raw oysters are categorized under  "only for last ditch survival" along with slugs, rats and drinking my own piss.

The one where the original topic was one thing, but the responses were perfect to making everyone who responded sound like they tasted cum after giving a blowjob for the first time after the thread title change?

When we go on vacation to the gulf, my 16 yo daughter and I see who can eat the most raw oysters. She may only weigh 100 lbs soaking wet, but I've seen her eat 3 dozen at one sitting. The wife and younger daughter refuse to even try them.

I love all kinds of food, but I never really got raw oysters.  They don't taste that good, and feel like placenta, or some there nasty slime in your mouth.
