I finally gave up on spending good money on the cast gear pullers. No matter who makes it, it's basically all chinesium we'll eventually strip the threads out of the center cast piece. If I have to have one, I'll go pick one up at Harbor Freight fully knowing that we'll only get 5 or maybe 6 good pulls out of the thing before it shits the bed.
We have a hydraulic press that we'll use when we're able, but you can't very well stick a 48 inch exhaust fan in your average shop press. Then the Gearwrench version popped up in my Amazon this morning: http://a.co/4U1gM6G Any good? Is it machined steel or more cast shit? My other thought it is to just drop money on a hydraulic version. We don't use it every day, maybe once a month, so when you need it, you need it. Any recommendations? |

I purchased a good one at NAPA about 8 years ago...still have it.
Use it about once a month at work. no signs of wear. I often connect my cordless impact to it to speed things up
OTC is the brand otctools.com made in USA part # 1023 I trashed several others before I got this one. |
